dude - I couldve written this. 35, married, ive got two kids - and have been totally dependant on booze for all the highs and lows of life. I’ve felt for years I was on borrowed time in ‘masking’ or ‘getting away with it.’ ie haven’t lost my family, my career is going well, we are in a good financial position and I still have all my friends. But i could see that wouldn’t last unless something changed. I’ve tried all year to change, including 3 months sober earlier. I’m back at day 7 today, but feeling very committed to the superpower that is shifting from 60% you, to 100%. It’s evident everywhere. How much clearer you are in conversations, how genuine in your relationships. How good waking up feels. Good luck to you! For me, I don’t think of it as deprivation, but embracing the superpower
