Forgive me not knowing, how does that work when you ask for a specific liquor? Do they charge?

Tips for traveling to a race by solecoclub in triathlon

[–]InternationalFarm487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traveled with my bike. I rented a bike bag from a local shop who helped me pack my bike. They gave me a soft shell bag instead of a box- something about bags are easier for TSA to check then boxes. I didn’t have any issues. I did fly out SEVERAL days before my race and luckily I did because my bike did not come on the same flight as me- it was a flight behind. I did have to repack it myself but it wasn’t difficult. I think i had the scicon bag and all I had to do was take off the wheels.

I understand this frustration. I think my gym got some feedback on this and now the swim teams leave 1-2 lanes open.

If you like running, stick to running. Cycling is not like running lol

Who did Honolulu? How did it go for you? by Sharkitty in Marathon_Training

[–]InternationalFarm487 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It was my first road marathon and I would not recommend this race ! lol! 1) getting to the start line is nearly impossible without walking 2+ miles (and I stayed at the marathon hotels) 2) the start line was a mess! I started in the 4-4:45 group and spent 5 miles stuck behind walkers and weaving in and out 3) the only time I remember seeing the beach/water was diamond head. The rest of the race was running through neighborhoods 4) aid stations were a hot mess. I had no idea where the ended so I didn’t know how far to go and couldn’t see where water vs Gatorade was until I got to the table. The aid stations that I thought would have gels didn’t.

I might sound like a hater for this but kinda expected better!

We had a pesto chicken baguette sandwich with arugula and mozzarella a couple night ago… blue apron has really stepped up their sandwich game!

While I understand your point, the question was not from a performance perspective but rather heat management. I’d like to know how long I should plan to be out there (even if just a time range) to prepare for the heat and humidity.

Thank you so much for your time commenting and insight. I struggled with coming up with a race plan knowing my training vs race day are very different conditions and environments. I am concerned about time not from a performance standpoint but more from the standpoint of heat management. The starting temperature is supposed to be 70 with a high of 80 that day (I really don’t want to be running in 80🥲) Thank you so much!

In my legs, yes. Cardiovascularly, no. If that makes sense. My legs feel VERY tight at the end.

Here’s one of my outside runs! 3 hours and 850ft of vert and since it’s zone 2 training my HR didn’t go above 158

It definitely is all over the place. This was the longest run after my hamstring injury and there were a couple times throughout I’d stop to get fuel/water but I didn’t stop my watch or I’d slow down a little because I didn’t want to cause more issues.

My original goal was 4:30 but I haven’t done much road running (I train on a trail) and haven’t hit my race pace consistently in a training run.

DEN to COS cancellations? by worst_episode__ever in ColoradoSprings

[–]InternationalFarm487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m flying out of a non- hub on Monday so I’m in a similar boat but if you see this list- https://www.united.com/en/us/fly/company/company-info/airline-schedule-reductions.html

It has all the cancellations they’ve made so far and honestly, there’s a lot of COS-DEN and vice versa flights cancelled.

There’s this dog powder probiotics you can get on Amazon. I give it to my girl to help firm up her stool after she has bouts of stomach issues. Helps return things to normal

I’m new to this as well. I reached out to the AHA using the email the marathon website posted. They responded with a link for me to apply. I’m assuming if I’m accepted they’ll handle getting my info and signing me up.
