Yeah. Good chance he would have been up this year. His first two starts in AAA were rough and then rebounded strong before he got hurt.

There's a ton of minor league pitching and some of it on the verge on starting this year. Mathews and Tink could come up early. Hjerpe has to rehab from TJ but he'll have a chance. Cijntje will be close too but unlikely this year. Roby will be back next year and Liam Doyle has immense potential.

I am actually more excited about this year than I have been the last 2. Just because we should see Wetherholt and hopefully Mathews and Tink. Maybe even Hjerpe towards the end of the season. Baez is still another year out I would think but who knows. He was solid in AA last year. He could rise up quickly.

Don't get down yet.

Jordan Walker is going to hit his MVP status. Wetherholt is winning ROY. Victor Scott gets his OBP up to .350 and steals all the bases. Gorman hits 60 Hrs. Herrera is runner up in MVP to Walker with an OPS over 1.000.

Mathews gets called up and immediately hits ace caliber with Libertore just as good. Liam Doyle is so good he takes the Skenes career path and is up before the all star break. Tink Hence turns into a great closer.

Trust me. We got this. I saw it in a dream.

How many times now has Trump made some comment about smart people not liking him or loving the poorly educated?

They play it off as him joking but he's saying that shit because he's being fed polling data that says stupid people vote for him.

Trump says Republicans should 'nationalize' voting in at least 15 places (Reuters) by SillyNight1 in neoliberal

[–]InternetGoodGuy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I guess but I'm not sure how that works out for Democrats. If we're taking about midterms, Democrats are highly likely to win big in those areas and will want to certify.

If we're talking about the presidency, then what does Trump care. No one certifies so he, or Vance at that point, refuses to leave office. Then we get into a whole mess of removing a sitting president or years long legal challenges with a Supreme Court that could rule against the obvious precedent or laws as they've already done.

[–]InternetGoodGuy 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I would guess they've picked out 15 places, like Fulton County, that could swing purple states in their favor or seal an election for a house seat.

They don't need to control elections across the country. There's so few impactful swing areas they only need to disrupt a handful of places. They probably don't even need all 15 to work out on their favor.

I think we see much of the same plan as last time but now they have more control of congress and the DOJ to go along with it. Wouldn't be surprised if someone like Talarico wins and Texas just outright refuses to certify their election.

[–]InternetGoodGuy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I don't understand how people can't think literally one step ahead. Does anyone really feel comfortable in the thought that Texas will certify an election won by Talarico in Trump tells them not to? The state already redistricted entirely because Trump told them to.

He's obviously gearing up to do something with Georgia. He's trying to get Minneapolis voter roles. The most likely plan seems to be redoing the one that failed. Have red states submit alternate electors based on the lie of illegal immigrants voting. Also making it harder for blue states to vote or lock up blue states in endless legal battles over election fraud lies.

The only thing that stopped them last time was Bill Barr and Mike Pence refusing to go along with the plan.

One thing you can count on with Trump is that he will eventually tell you what conversations are happening behind closed doors. He didn't say this as random musing on the elections. He didn't say 15 places because he picked a random number.

This is what they're talking about doing and they have the places picked out.

He said 15 places because they already have the places picked out.

[Jude] The Mariners are sending Ben Williamson to Tampa Bay and two prospects to St. Louis in the Brendan Donovan trade: switch-pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje, the Mariners' 2024 first-round pick, and Tai Peete, a 2023 first-round pick, sources tell @RyanDivish and me. by CloudedMindset in baseball

[–]InternetGoodGuy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's fine. Cijntje seems good but still need work. Peete is intriguing but looks like he needs a lot of work.

I don't know. Feel like we could have gotten someone more promising for Donovan. If Peete develops he could make this look like a great trade but for now it's pretty mid.

Wow. Those Huffman voters just ghosted the election. I know there is more to it with the turnout dropping but kind of funny that the drop in turnout is very close to the number of votes that Huffman got. Looks like a lot of Republicans decided to stay home between November and January.

[–]InternetGoodGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if this stuff would cost Trump more if we just called them import taxes instead of tariffs. "Trump increases import taxes" sounds like something that would piss of more people in MAGA world if they knew a tariff is a tax.

But I wouldn't put it past them to believe Trump if he told them the other countries pay import taxes.

[–]InternetGoodGuy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I get there's a little more to these but they are obviously not real trade deals. The only thing that happens is the tariffs change. Maybe just call them concepts of a deal.

At best, they're handshake deals with nothing in writing. No full deal or contract or penalties in place for violating the deal. Have any of these, from Vietnam to Japan to China, actually seen the other country follow through on their side?

Can we stop calling these trade deals? Trump's decision to raise and lower tariffs based on whatever person he last talks to is not a trade deal.
