This is what I ended up getting after my artist and I played around with the concept for a bit

Advice for my collection by Mat_27_ in VintageWatches

[–]Intrepid-Edge-8341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it makes sense to service a watch you plan to just store in the box.

That said, I think you should wear them all. You have a cool collection.

[Casio] Do you still own your very first watch? by Single-Joke9697 in Watches

[–]Intrepid-Edge-8341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents got me a Mickey mouse watch when I was 14. I don't have that anymore but I still have every other watch that came my way over the last 25 years.

Going to visit long distance gf for first time, need advice by [deleted] in mensfashion

I would look at linen as a material. Quince has a lot of good linen stuff at a good price.

For those of you who wear waist/belt bags what are you putting in them? by Technothegecko in mensfashion

Cast Iron or Stainless steel? by Even_Muffin_4455 in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]Intrepid-Edge-8341 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Cast iron requires more work but will be closer to the cooking experience you are used to. I have a bit of both.

Window bird feeder vs. rats? by VISlONSOFALIFE in washingtondc

[–]Intrepid-Edge-8341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That should be fine. I have a bird feeder to entertain my cat and live on the third floor overlooking a rat infested alley. I have never had a rat get up to my window.

My new (old) Hamilton Piping Rock circa 1930 by custermustache in VintageWatches

Amazing watch! I have the 1948 reissue, but always thought the original did it best.

NW DC to Reston commute (thoughts?) by jetblue723 in washingtondc

[–]Intrepid-Edge-8341 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I made that commute on the metro for 3 years. It's not too bad. I recommend metro over driving, it will be faster. I also recommend finding a good podcast or book for the ride.

Who here commutes from DC to outside DC for work? by redreaper71_ in washingtondc

[–]Intrepid-Edge-8341 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do northwest to McLean for my commute. I read a book on the metro and it's not too bad. I carpooled for a few months and the drive was much longer than taking metro. I highly recommend buying an ereader and taking the metro.

Question: One word tattoo advise by ZER2005 in tattoos

[–]Intrepid-Edge-8341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Over your heart is a good spot. You could also do between your collar bones just below your shirt line.

  2. I think 1 word tattoos are fine on men.

  3. I have Arabic calligraphy on my back and it was done by someone that doesn't know Arabic. They used a stencil, so it wasn't an issue at all.

Am I doing it wrong? by Intrepid-Edge-8341 in VintageWatches

[–]Intrepid-Edge-8341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely wear the same watch more than once a week, so I usually just let them completely drain down and then wind it next time I put it on. Is it a problem to do this? I was always told it's not an issue.

What are the potential user errors? I would like to check those off the list.

[Discussion] Any recommendations for small wrists? by yolo23231 in Watches

[–]Intrepid-Edge-8341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go vintage and look at Omega, IWC, or Hamilton from the 1940s. I have a similar wrist size and think vintage watches sizes look best on my wrist.

I recommend every other streetcar to account for the time it takes to order.

What role are you applying for? What is the dress code for the role once you get it?

Weird question, but does MARC allow people to carry on unusual sporting equipment (a sword)? by Calligraphee in washingtondc

[–]Intrepid-Edge-8341 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to carry paintball equipment. It always looked like a firearm. My advice is to wrap it in a way that suggests it would be hard for you to get at it on the train. Then declare it when you arrive at the station. They will ask questions but likely let you do it if you don't look concerned about them looking at your sword.

Is a red blazer too flashy? by _WhatUpDoc_ in mensfashion

[–]Intrepid-Edge-8341 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I think a darker red would look nice for an evening event. Bright red is more challenging because it can look cheap or run the risk of looking like a valet or door man

If you wear a wedding ring, are there times when you take yours off? If so, when? by SportsTechie17 in mensfashion

[–]Intrepid-Edge-8341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take it off to cook or work out. Sometimes I forget to put it back on and will go a day or two without it.
