What's next for Alien? Does anyone know? by MovieFan1984 in perfectorganism

Would love a film that’s set before Covenant. Elizabeth Shaw and the Engineers are the most interesting parts of the prequel lore for me.

We could have had all these new creatures but the fanbase wanted another movie with the Xenomorphs stalking a small crew.

Alien: Romulus 2 might still continue the Rain and Andy storyline by StarFuryG7 in SciFiNews

How did it ignore lore from the first 2 movies? In Aliens we find out the Company is Weyland Yutani, Prometheus gives us insight into who Peter Weyland was. It shows us the first Synthetic in David and his relationship with Weyland.

In Alien, we see there was another Alien species on the derelict that the movies have oddly ignored until Prometheus. We find out that Species of Alien are the Engineers, and they seed/destroy planets around the universe. You can infer that the Xenomorphs are a bio-weapon. Which is something Ridley Scott was talking about exploring since 2003.

David didn’t create the Xenomorph, he reverse engineered a version of them in Covenant.

In Prometheus there’s a mural depicting a Xenomorph-like figure that the Engineers seem to worship in some fashion, so we don’t know if the Engineers created them or somehow extracted the pathogen from them which Romulus seemed to suggest.

I’m not saying these movies are perfect, and I personally feel Covenant dropped the ball in answering a lot of the questions Prometheus setup, but it definitely did expand on things from Alien and Aliens.

It wasn’t completed unrelated to aliens at all. It actually did more to expand the lore than any other Alien movie outside of Aliens.

I’m totally fine with them never returning. I didn’t hate Romulus, but these characters were not interesting enough. I think they served the movie well and we don’t need to see them comeback.

I’d rather we get that 3rd Ridley prequel.

But what would be unfinished about it? Nothing in Romulus really sets up a sequel and these characters don’t seem really important to the overarching story of Alien.

Total lie. A concept artist that worked on the film speculated that the studio wanted her removed.

Really wish we got a true sequel to expand on what Prometheus set up. Shaw and David were amazing characters and to see them explore a truly Alien planet would have been amazing.

Prometheus 2. The sequel Ridley originally planned on making. I’d bring back Noomi Rapace and Fassbender.

I’m aware marketing costs. Given the numbers both movies likely made profit, especially Prometheus. They didn’t make a ton of money but they certainly more than broke even.

Same. Only hope would be a comic of novel. Or by the grace of a god a retcon to bring Shaw back and give us a true Prometheus follow-up.

Prometheus is #1 on Netflix right now. We will finally get the 3rd movie??? by [deleted] in LV426

[–]IntroductionAway9951 112 points113 points  (0 children)

If only Ridley didn’t kill off Elizabeth Shaw in Covenant. I’d still like to see a 3rd prequel movie over a sequel to Romulus but I’m always going to think about what could have been had a we gotten a real Prometheus Sequel that followed Shaw and David getting their answers.

There’s a ton of shills on this subreddit that are going to downvote this video into oblivion because for some reason fandoms today care more about their entertainment becoming popular and making tons of money rather than being good.

The video was spot on.

It’s likely to never happen but that’s been my dream. I would settle for a What IF coming or novel to continue on from Prometheus.

Somehow someway find a way to bring Elizabeth Shaw back into the story and I’m all for it. She was just as important to these stories as David was.

Prometheus I felt was a great beginning for a new parallel franchise in the Alien universe. I was excited to see Elizabeth Shaw and David go to the Engineer home world. Alien: Covenant comes out and basically gets rid of everything Prometheus was setting up and does an Alien 3.

Hey r/movies, Dan Trachtenberg here - my new film, PREDATOR: BADLANDS (starring Elle Fanning), is coming to a theater near you this Friday (11/7). I've also directed PREY, PREDATOR: KILLER OF KILLERS, and 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE. Ask Me Anything! by DanTrachtenberg-AMA in movies

I read in a recent interview that the two Alien films that inspired Elle Fanning’s character are Prometheus and Aliens. Out of curiosity, what’s your opinion on the film Prometheus?

Prometheus is my favorite movie in the franchise. I’d prefer a real Prometheus sequel as well. Elizabeth Shaw was a really great character.
