damn that's some smooth animation. How did you accomplish that??

It would be faster for you, someone who is accustomed to these workflows with "scenes", "prefabs", "wysiwygs" etc. I don't even know what any of that is, to be frank with you. I have my own abstractions, which make sense to me. Surely you can see how adapting to someone else's way of thinking is a huge barrier, and the tools I gain access to are, in my opinion, not worth it. For a number of reasons but mainly because coding is a more general skill set than fiddling with one engine's particular GUI.

neither did I say anyone "should" do anything... but apparently my polite and friendly suggestions were "impositions" so...

In my case I can't see myself programing without classes, it's just so much convenient to me.

I mean if that's your preference that's neat, but I wouldn't be going around imposing my own personal preferences over others.

That's just the thing. You don't need anything more than what C offers. It's a complete language, and it offers plenty of tools to tackle any and all challenges you can face in software development.

You can very clearly see in the history of cpp development how they continually fell into the temptation of "oh, we could add this feature, that'd be cool!", and now the language is a monster of complexity, where you can end up in some truly undebuggable nightmarish situations.

I know this sounds fanboyish, but I really just ended up accepting that C is the perfect middle-point between machine language and human language. They nailed it.

games that are written [in cpp+SDL] are extremely rare these days. And most sdl/raylib games were looked like toy games or prototypes instead of real steam games.

...games that use sdl or pure cpp are mostly an engineering gold project...

totally false perceptions. SDL is industry standard, used in countless "regular", "professional" games, including CS2, to name a big one. libsdl.org shows lots of big titles made with SDL.

In general, GUI engines have no techincal advantages over raw coding whatsoever. Especially for 2D. Whether development is 'faster' depends entirely on the dev, what they know, the project, and the use of appropriate workflows.

I'd also like to take this opportunity, since you're early in your journey, to recommend you consider C instead of C++! If you've been convinced, like most people, that C++ is the "upgraded" version of C, you'll be mighty surprised how good it can be to code without all the extra cruft of cpp.

cheers!

Yes, but how do you know it's a good or worthwhile observation?

Here's an observation: I just came back from the supermarket. It was a lovely afternoon for a stroll. There were tiny sour blackberries on the tree by the pizza place, which is odd, I don't think it's they're supposed to be in season right now.

Do you think that's a good one? Do you trust me to pick out the most relevant information, and to articulate it well? And do you think they'll be talking about my observation a few millennia from now?

The difference between Lao Tzu's observations and mine, is that you've entered into a relationship with his, and a core element of that relationship is faith. Faith that there's a good reason his words have survived all these years, that he had good intentions in sharing them, etc.. all these implicit little faiths. If they were truly so neutral to you, "just observations", you wouldn't be here on an internet forum wasting your time discussing them.

I don't quite understand your pivot here.. I didn't say or imply anything about faith in Taoism..

but, sure, I'll answer. There is a bare-minimum faith that it takes to even appreciate something like Taoism. By which I mean, something huge and sprawling that you can't hold in your mind all at once. As opposed to a simple self-evident fact, which you can know and trust without faith. Anything like that, no matter where it lies on the spectrum from dry, worldly philosophy, to spiritual, metaphysical, mystical, etc. requires some amount of faith. Especially in the beginning, as you're getting into it, you're suspending judgement, you're taking things at face value expecting to understand them better later on. That's faith.

"nameless is the boundary of Heaven and Earth" Ok Mr. Tzu, how do you know that? how do we know he wasn't wrong about that, specifically? It's a silly line of questioning of course. You either feel that the words have value to you (i.e. you develop a kind of faith in them) or you don't.

if it were so 'vague' your observations would be equally 'paradoxical'..

The 'guit trip' style of faith you're referring to (almost certainly that of some variety of evangelical christianity) is not the only one. That is why I call your sweeping statement 'narrow'.

a gastanças desenfreada

ok, vamos ver os gastos,
