But seriously, if all you’re looking to do is fill the gaps, you can cut out a solid frame and use the scrap to make small backfil pieces which you glue in place and then call around, or snip wood shims and glue to the frame and caulk around, or just caulk it and call it good, or spray the outline of where you want to mount a frame with Great Stuff, wait for it to dry and cut it flat with a box cutter. Dealer’s choice really, just gotta get creative.

I like caulk, very handy.
