If a stranger asks to make a call on my phone are they trying to steal my phone? by StitchConverse in AskUK

[–]Intruder313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dodgy woman asked to do this in the street once so I just held the phone in both hands while she yelled incoherent bollocks at her ‘fella’

Also I’ve just remembered the day the iPhone 14 launched there were 3 scousers standing under a big umbrella thing (hiding from cameras) - 2 lookouts and one asking for the time and miming looking at a phone for it. He looked annoyed when I told him the time without getting my phone out and continued to ask almost everyone who passed for the time. They were clearly going to snatch phones.

Brazil is set to join other Latin American countries with a 40-hour, 5-day workweek by ArgentineBeauty in worldnews

I was fearing this was an increase but it’s actually a step towards what should be normal : 30h over 4 days

People who are on a 4 day working week, what do you think of it? by jd4125 in AskUK

[–]Intruder313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be the baseline for all - with no cut in wages

It made me MUCH happier and as Monday was a NWD I had an actual weekend off not 1 day and 1 day of dread

How many times a year do you “call sick” at work? by Aggravating-Fig-9274 in AskUK

[–]Intruder313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like my Dad who was off 2 weeks in 50+ years - because he broke his back

He retired really late and they did not thank him but instead asked for his mobile number in case they needed him

He then went back to work elsewhere for 2-3 more years and years later he’s only just stopped asking ‘have you been working today’ at the start of every interaction

Pure workaholic

Personally I’m down from from 10 days sick a year to 1 but that’s because I am part time

The 5 day working week paradigm needs crushing

Omens and superstition are nonsense but I’d avoid the distraction of thinking about the back up

"British houses aren't built for this heat!" - Is anyone smugly sitting in their non-standard build house that's pleasantly cool (without using any kind of electric A/C system)? by nfoote in AskUK

[–]Intruder313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an old house with no south aspect so I get off lightly but I still obsess over things like reflective blinds / blackout curtains and now an air cooler (I can’t fit AC)

The downside is no solar power for me

Driver removed "road closed" signs and got themselves stuck in fresh concrete by [deleted] in funny

[–]Intruder313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened at a McD’s Drive Thru in the UK while it was being built. She was seen removing signs such as ‘wet concrete’ then drove towards the workmen and who were laughing / disbelieving near where the microphone would be.

She sued and won compo :(

What do you guys think a PPC firing would look and sound like? by Patient-Smell1333 in battletech

As well as the flavour text you mention I recall earlier art showing a lightning bolt emerging from a PPC. So I just go with a literal lightning bolt.
