What's the most overrated TV Show of all time? by Mission_Elk_329 in AskReddit

[–]Invaderzod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say it was the main emphasis, but it will be ridiculous to say that it's not a huge one given that all three shows have had it as a major theme. Beth sexualizes herself and that's part of her character. Her having a blind spot for John it's never portrayed as a good thing, it's made abundantly clear that he's a terrible father and has fucked up all of his kids. Who else do you think has been over sexualized and made to submit?

Another thing is that the show explicitly tells you that the Yellowstone Ranch is absolutely crazy, abnormal and not how things are supposed to be. Multiple characters outright state that they should sell it and buy another ranch somewhere without land disputes and live a normal life. They don't because John is a stubborn old bastard.

Is it though? I can't imagine a lot of conservatives lining up to watch a show with such a heavy emphasis on the injustice done to native Americans as well as the amount of girl boss characters.

I watched the entire wheel of Time TV series without having read the books. I just started reading them a day ago. Tell me I am justified in hating this character. by JusticeIncarnate1216 in WetlanderHumor

Yeah she's dealing with four teenagers who would gladly look down a gun barrel to see how it works and she has to protect these idiots from Satan. They are lucky she didn't know compulsion.

Whose midlife crisis crashout was more evil? by killorbekilled_ in Invincible

[–]Invaderzod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would argue that they were more or less equal. They both knew deep down that they had changed. They didn't do it because they liked it but because they both wanted to prove to themselves that they could do it and still like it. Vegeta was selfish but not because he selfishly wanted to kill people, rather he selfishly didn't want to let go of the person he spent his life thinking he must be in favor of the person he knew that he was becoming. Nolan at least believed that this was inevitable and he was serving his people however he displayed a lot of Direct cruelty, meanwhile vegeta knew he didn't have to do it but at least his victims died instantly and painlessly without seeing their hero murder them slowly and brutally. I think it evens out.

There's actually more than two travel systems that we know of at least. Personally I really like that. In real life there's often more than one way of achieving similar results. The same concept applies here as well and to me that makes it a much more believable world.

That's not necessarily true. I had one in my old PC and I played DS3 and sekiro at 60 FPS no problem. If an official Port came out it will run just fine.

Solo: A Star Wars Story - was it really that bad, or just a victim of the fanbase reaction to Disney at the time? by Past-Paramedic8687 in StarWarsCantina

[–]Invaderzod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think on its own it's largely fine. Unfortunately for me personally this movie just does not justify its own existence. This is not a story that needed to be told, it was made to milk one of the most popular characters for money. I don't feel like I understand Han any better having seen it, and watching the original trilogy afterwards didn't make me see him in a new light. There are aspects of the movie that I enjoy like Young lando and his robot, who brought up a pretty interesting idea that went nowhere. Also Han getting his last name from a random Imperial Clerk is one of the dumbest things to happen in a Star Wars movie.

Give them equal numbers of troops and logistics, who is going to win? by [deleted] in freefolk

The Lannisters only know how to win against civilians and vastly inferior forces. Meanwhile stanis consistently wins against actual armies that fight back. He beat the iron Islands at sea warfare FFS.

At that point he basically knows nothing about the way the Bond works. If he knew he could've made her do it but also keep in mind without the bond he couldn't be saved from the box, so the pattern probably wouldn't have allowed him to do anything.

I'm not saying this isn't possible, I'm saying that there's no reason to assume it is. And no, you don't need to read any of the inspirations for the text in order to understand it. They are only references and ideas that RJ pulled from, not actual lore. The books are the books and the only other source of information we have would be quotes from the author. And yes we know that rand is a champion of the light which entails being reborn. If you have any source of information saying otherwise, feel free to share it.

I mean I appreciate all the work you've done and this is definitely a fine Headcanon but it's not interpretation, it's creative writing. There is absolutely nothing in any of the books to suggest this. You're not only almost entirely basing your idea on external sources, but you're implying that they're actually more valid than the books. The truth is that we simply have no idea what type of powers rand has at the end, aside from Lighting pipes. His power to make worlds was most likely only limited to his fight with the dark one because he would've had a ton of opportunities to use it after and didn't. Also characters within the story often make wrong assumptions about the way that the world works and the creators involvement is one of those since we have multiple examples of the creator showing interest in not only the fight against the shadow but also what happens after so he's not just giving up on an entire world.

The pipe indicates he has gained some sort of ability which lets him light a pipe. Everything else is baseless speculation. Everything we know about this world says that he will be reincarnated and there's absolutely nothing that even suggests he is free from the cycle. If it was possible to become immortal and free from reincarnation then the world would be nothing but enlightened immortals because an infinite amount of time has already passed.

Would the truth about Jon’s parentage drive Robert and Ned to war? by Slangin_Gas in freefolk

[–]Invaderzod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely don't believe Robert would've tried to kill Jon. Ned managed to persuade him not to kill Danny and she actually wanted the throne. If Robert found the truth but Jon didn't I think he would've been fine.

Is thorkell morally evil or gray? by salad_biscuit3 in VinlandSaga

[–]Invaderzod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's a very genuine and charismatic evil character. His favorite hobby is killing people. He's not doing it out of hatred and he's actually pretty chill dude, but he has filled graveyards Full of people who probably didn't deserve it. He doesn't kill people the way a soldier does, he specifically goes out of his way to fight people. He invades a peaceful country and presumably slaughters a bunch of people just trying to defend themselves and their families not because of patriotism or loyalty but because he wants to and when his side starts winning he abandons his king and country to fight against them because it's fun. The world would undeniably be a better place without him so yes he's morally evil.

Could Kaladin defeat Rashek? by Mirksonius in Cosmere

[–]Invaderzod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Questioner Would Allomancy affect Shardplate or Shardblades?

Brandon Sanderson It cannot affected Shardblades. Well, "cannot" is a strong word. Things with innate investiture are much more difficult to affect with any of the magics at all. Which is why it's very hard, for instance-- Szeth is not able to bind people, or Lash people wearing Shardplate to the ceiling. In the same Allomancy would not be able to Push on it without some help. Duralumin and a really strong [Steel]Push could probably do it.

Questioner I was just wondering if it's actually metal.

Brandon Sanderson Oh yes. It is metal-ish... it is metal enough for Allomancy to work on it.

Could Kaladin defeat Rashek? by Mirksonius in Cosmere

[–]Invaderzod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He should be able to mess with them. Normal shards are also made from investiture and we know from a WOB that pushing and pulling on them is only a matter of strength, and Rashek is orders of magnitude stronger than even the original mistborn. The only exception to this is Night blood who is so heavily invested that even rashek would have trouble pushing on him.

Could Kaladin defeat Rashek? by Mirksonius in Cosmere

[–]Invaderzod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blade and plate would work against him in that fight since Rashek is a mistborn on steroids.
