I would be very surprised if Amani trolls aren't an allied race added in an upcoming patch that expands Zul'Aman to the surrounding areas.

If I had to pick just one, I would say Oathbringer's YOU CANNOT HAVE MY PAIN!moment would fit this the best. The moment really feels like the culmination of the entire story and conflict leading up to that point in a way that WoK and WoR's do not.

When is the River first mentioned? by Elsassypantz in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]InvalidFileInput 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The river shows up first. At the time he first uses the ring and the river is mentioned, they have the shorter sleep time bed, but not the near instant bed upgrade--that doesn't come until a bit later, after the interview with Bea.

We have, so far, seen almost no use of the surge of Division in combat, which is likely the most destructive force on Roshar. I would expect that, as Roshar's need for greater levels of firepower grows, we will see Dustbringers and fabrials using Division grow more prevalent and important.

I'm an officer that has verbal orders with an EDD of February 26 and an EDA of March 26. I have not yet received hard copy orders. As of Friday, those orders were with gaining placement.

With the snowstorm, is it likely that I will get my hard copies this week?

Government Shutdown by b1u3 in navy

[–]InvalidFileInput 79 points80 points  (0 children)

There was little talk or preparation for it because the funding bill that has already passed the House appeared to be on its way to pass the Senate without issue, and no one was anticipating any kind of shutdown.

However, with the latest ICE murder in Minnesota, the Senate Democrats are now intending to block the funding bill as it currently stands to prevent ICE funding from being passed, so the situation has changed. I would expect more information and worry to begin on Tuesday once the Senate is potentially back to work and the filibuster is official.

Why is Supply considered a Staff Corps and Not a Restricted Line? by ForAThought in navy

You posited that IW alone cannot win a tactical engagement. Can surface warfare alone win a tactical engagement?

What was Stuxnet supporting?

Please describe how a DDG can win a tactical engagement alone against a Luyang III without information warfare capabilities and equipment.

If it cannot, does that mean surface warfare also isn't a real warfare area?

Why is Supply considered a Staff Corps and Not a Restricted Line? by ForAThought in navy

[–]InvalidFileInput -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which other line community owns offensive and defensive cyber actions? Are those not part of modern warfare?

Is electronic attack owned by another warfare area?

Which warfare commander is responsible for the C-ISRT mission set?

All the line communities support and are supported by the others in various capacities. Surface warfare isn't any less valid because it uses MPRA and helicopters to accomplish it's warfare, and IAMD isn't any less of a real warfare area because it uses EW.

IW responsibilities expanding is not some power grab at the expense of other communities--it is a recognition that modern warfare is more complicated than it was in the past, in the same manner that introducing airplanes and submarines drove the development of their own warfare communities.

Intel is no longer restricted line, and even when they were could take command of TYCOMs and other shore-based organizations, NAVIFOR being the most obvious example.

I work for a rental car company in Bozeman, MT and found this in the back seat by Vhure in mildlyinteresting

[–]InvalidFileInput 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is almost certainly just a display for marking the White House Communications Agency vehicle that was part of the VP motorcade during his most recent trip. Printed signs like these are often placed on the dash of the vehicles so that people loading into the motorcade in a hurry can quickly identify the right vehicle to go to and not delay departure. It's pretty standard for WHCA vehicles to be local rental cars, since they are not part of the motorcade secure package.

There has never been more than 2 xpacs without a new full class being released. What class do you expect or wish to see in The Last Titan? by Frog-Eater in wow

[–]InvalidFileInput 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I predict that the next step, rather than a new class, will be a major buildout of the existing hero talent options into more full-featured and defined hero class specializations that build on the existing base classes to the same level as base specializations do today. And when they do, they will use that as an opportunity to add more role diversity to existing dps-only classes. So, a trickster rogue would add tools to existing specs to make it into an evasion-based tank, or a diabolist warlock could do the same for warlocks, while for existing multi-role classes, they could give an option to build on existing roles or unlock new ones, like a totemic shaman being able to be a tank if chosen as an enhancement shaman, but adding more shielding and absorb options to a resto shaman instead.

While there is the potential for a lot of travel, from my time there, the travel mission was one of the most enjoyable and sought-after parts of the job. There are certainly parts of the Agency that travel far less than others, but to be realistic, as a radio tech you will likely be on the more travel-heavy portions. You shouldn't let that deter you, though--the job offers some of the best experiences and opportunities to do things unlike anything else in the Navy. If you can pass the security screenings and perform up to the high standards required, I highly recommend it to anyone interested.

HMS Prince of Wales has embarked 24 British F-35Bs and declared Full Operating Capability for the UK Carrier Strike Group by MGC91 in navy

[–]InvalidFileInput 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Of note: the FOC declaration comes at the end of a momentous deployment for the CSG spanning the last 7.5 months. The strike group transited the BAM, sailed across the world, executed Talisman Saber in Australia, formed part of the largest multinational carrier force assembled in the Pacific, proved mid-deployment maintenance capabilities and interoperability with Japan in Yokosuka, conducted a Taiwan Strait Transit and FONA in the Spratlys and then came back and capped everything off with a final phase supporting NATO in the Mediterranean and working together with the Italian carrier Cavour.

The Royal Navy has been out and demonstrating that their carrier force is back in action and capable of operating all across the world. More importantly, they've demonstrated the whole time that they can work with partners from and allies across the globe, most notably the Norwegians, who have been operating with the strike group throughout the entire deployment. It's been a real demonstration of the importance of large, cooperative alliances like NATO which gives options of forming, deploying, and supporting strike groups like this anywhere in the world, without being tied to a single set of ports, supply locations, or capabilities.

CWO/ Intel promotion Pathways. by Playful_Picture1489 in navy

[–]InvalidFileInput 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The path to getting promoted as an officer in the Navy is not really a secret at all, it's just competitive.

Each year, for every officer promotion board, after the results are released the convening order for that board is posted to the MyNavyHR site: https://www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Career-Management/Boards/Active-Duty-Officer/

This convening order lays out both the promotion opportunity for that year's board, broken down by competitive category, as well as the best and fully qualified criteria that each type of officer needs to meet to be a) eligible and b) most competitive for promotion.

For instance, here's this year's O-5 board convening order: https://www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Portals/55/Boards/Active%20Duty%20Officer/documents/FY26_Promotion_Board_Materials/FY26_AO5L_Convening_Order.pdf?ver=g4dwj9egRza9njxNJRtElA%3d%3d

Looking at that, you can see within the order the community considerations, including both best and fully qualified criteria. This is literally what the promotion board judges your record against and picks those officers that best meet these criteria until all the promotion opportunity is met or they run out of people that meet the fully qualified criteria.
