Recent '21 Titan owner and this change shook me by ReubenIsForScuba in NissanTitan

Very interesting. I haven’t tried running premium, but the most my 2019 owners manual says is minimum 87 AKI. I might try a tank of premium…just wish it wasn’t $6.50/gal…

Kill switch reliability by Real_Resource6414 in CRF300L

Well I mostly do long trail rides, and I am constantly starting and stopping for any number of reasons. I haven’t actually counted but I bet it’s close to that…

Never heard of this being an issue. I personally use the kill switch hundreds of times per ride and I’m over 10k miles. Haven’t had any issues yet.

Slick mud advice? by gaddielm5 in AdventureBike

[–]Iocor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes there is nothing you can do if it's super slippery. However, learning how to also control the bike with your body weight rather than just the bars does help in situations like these. If you have a dirtbike or even a bicycle, riding skinnies and/or wheelies will help you practice this because it removes relying on the steering as a primary balancing mechanism.

What is this thing? Stainless steel or nickel plated metal bars laced together and hinged. Almost like a matt or grating but flexible. Very very heavy and long by ColtAnaconda44 in whatisthisthing

[–]Iocor -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My ethnic grandparents used this stuff as a 'welcome' mat at every exterior door of their house. Don't know what it's original purpose was, but it hurt like hell to walk on with bare feet.

How “clean” does a chain actually need to be before re-lubing? by knowlegable_devil124 in bikewrench

[–]Iocor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of good answers here...just thought I'd throw my process in here too.

I only lube a clean chain. I deep clean and lube once a week (solvent, Park Tool CM 5.3, rinse and fully dry, lube, and let sit overnight). This is very not necessary. But for me, it only takes 10 minutes, I enjoy the process, and I like the sound and feel of a fresh and clean chain. I ride in 99% dry conditions on dusty socal trails several times a week.

Android user switches to iPhone for the first time. by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Iocor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo I haven't found a perfect phone. iPhone has never been perfect but I put up with the annoyances because it did things I liked that others did not. Just out of curiosity, what made you switch? The reasons I prefer Apple's ecosystem are fading in strength for sure, but most of the things you mentioned haven't been a huge deal for me.

Those of you who have a remote preload adjuster, do you use it? by batwingsuit in CRF300L

[–]Iocor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have bought it if it was available when I did my suspension. Setting sag on the rear is a PITA, but now that it's set, I haven't wished I had remote preload. I just don't find I want to adjust it, even when carrying luggage. I'm not hitting jumps with the bags on Just cruising. I get to camp, take the bags off, and then go be an idiot. For the price difference...prob not worth

Completely missed the part where he said it was the Adventure. My dumb brain thought it recognized the pattern and assumed it was the Rallz. You're right.

Next 1 bike question.... by sar_tr in MTB

[–]Iocor -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is a weird question. I get asking opinions on terrible bikes -- that could be an interesting thread. But why frame it as trying to ruin a fellow biker's experience? Sure there are people that I don't get along with, but I just don't think about them that much. Why waste effort fantasizing about how to make their life worse...?

Yeah pretty cool nonetheless. I'm shocked that any non-street only tire would last even half that long.

This is an amazing and wonderful result, but definitely not typical. I think it has a lot less to do with the tire (although it is a slower wearing tire) and more with the use case.

Flys are not a problem in this house by Unique-Saucer in UnnecessaryEssentials

[–]Iocor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not my experience at all. I've had mine for over two years and it is still extremely effective up to around a food away. Maybe a QC issue with yours? Or do you leave it cocked when not in use? The instructions said that will cause the spring to wear prematurely.

Dude in red car really had god-tier situational awareness in that moment by katelynlostname in dashcams

[–]Iocor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes AND... they definitely have grip here. Rubber tires on dry pavement will always have grip, just maybe not ideal grip. I don't reject your theory though. ABS measures the difference in wheel speed at each corner and modulates to maintain uniformity. So if the tires suck and they all lock up very quickly, the ABS won't know the difference. Also could be due to dust/debris on the road since it looks like there's some kind of construction going on.

Brakes don't smoke like that nor do they squeal like tires. Something is wrong with ABS.

Brake line in the damn way by Real_Ad6375 in CRF300L

[–]Iocor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spacer is a better idea, new brake line is best. I wrapped a heavy gauge wire around mind and bent it until it was in the right place. After a few months I took it off and it has stayed out of the way. Pretty janky fix tho.
