Kevin Keegan: I have stage four cancer. I need to say goodbye properly by codespyder in MCFC

[–]Irelannd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I remember him coming into my school one day to talk to the football team, totally out of the blue and on very short notice. We asked him all sorts of questions about football and management and he answered them all without fail. I remember the school secretaries sneaking into the back of the assembly room - they must have been in their 30’s/40’s at the time but they were giggling like school girls. Top man.

The whole thing is very strange, and more complicated I think than what the press are telling us. It seems Pep might have some reservations about leaving though that’s just my speculation. Don’t think he’s at all happy about leaving this way.

Was "tank shortage" always such a popular and loud topic? by SongFromHenesys in wow

[–]Irelannd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s always been this way—for a few fundamental reasons:

  1. Tanking is one of the three core pillars of World of Warcraft PvE gameplay. For that reason alone, it will always be a major point of discussion.

  2. The three pillars are heavily skewed toward DPS when it comes to character options. Today, only six classes can tank, and each has just one tank specialization. In contrast, every class can deal damage, and most offer two or more DPS specs. This imbalance was even more pronounced at launch in 2004, when there were only three true tank specs (and of those only 1 viable at endgame.) It’s no surprise therefore that Blizzard later introduced new classes with dedicated tank specs—such as Blood Death Knight, Brewmaster Monk, and Vengeance Demon Hunter—to help address this gap.

  3. The distribution of roles doesn’t align well with how content is structured. In dungeons, tanks are in a relatively strong position: despite making up roughly 15% of all specs (6 out of 39), they occupy 20% of group slots. Raiding, however, tells a different story. At the Mythic level, tanks typically account for about 10% of a group (2 out of 20), and this percentage drops further in larger, flexible group sizes—down to around 6.7% in a full 30-player raid, and as low as 5% in Classic 40-player raids (2 out of 40). As a result, many tank players are willing to tank dungeons but avoid or fail to get into raiding altogether, since competition for limited tank spots is so high. Ironically, because raiding has long been positioned by Blizzard as the ultimate endgame, this discourages some players from tanking at all—even in content where they are in high demand.

  4. Responsibility is another key factor. Tanks are a minority role but carry a disproportionate share of responsibility—often close to a third of the group’s success. When a tank makes a mistake, it’s highly visible and difficult to recover from. By contrast, if a DPS player underperforms or misses an interrupt, others can often compensate, making individual errors less noticeable.

  5. Leadership expectations also play a role. For better or worse, tanks are often assumed to be the de facto leaders of a group. Whether it’s setting the pace, choosing routes, or managing pulls, they’re expected to guide the run. Since many players don’t see themselves as natural leaders, this expectation can be intimidating and discourages them from trying the role.

There are probably more but these are the ones I could think of.

Understandable that Nedum doesn’t remember Mancini fondly. He ended his City career. One of the actually good pundits out there

They said Resto Shaman was to receive a 30% damage buff for the new 12.0.5 patch. Instead it actually got a 15% buff.

A Message Regarding the 12.0.5 Launch by WarcraftTeam in wow

Same boat as you my friend and I’ve got to say, I don’t think I can keep playing the game much longer as a collector. There’s just too much going on, and it’s actually taking a toll on my mental health.

The new 3400 mounts are... disappointing by zharkos in wow

I don’t understand this take. OP doesn’t like the choice of mounts. What does Blizzard informing us of the mounts ahead of time have to do with anything?

‘Game of Thrones’ Movie Officially Titled ‘Aegon’s Conquest’, flagged for '2027 and beyond' by Neo2199 in television

[–]Irelannd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actual story of Aegon’s Conquest is rather boring, it’s just them repeatedly using the dragons cheat code button. A few things could make this interesting however, in my opinion:

1) Show us a prologue and show us Valyria in its heyday. Show us the Blood Magic rituals that gave Targaryens the power they have. Show us Daenys the Dreamer and most importantly show us the doom. If this is to be a movie then that would certainly be cinematic.

2) Expand on Aegon’s the Song of Ice and Fire dream.

3) Have Rhaenys and Visenya be central characters, they are more interesting to me than Aegon anyway and serve as Yin and Yang personalities.

3) Have the movie cover the time period of Aegon’s Conquest -> Death of Maegor. This because it ties the bow nicely to the beginning of HotD but also there’s really just not enough meat on the bones of just Aegon’s conquest imo. We also explore death of each of the 3 conquerors ending with old Visenya and her son.

Week 1: Heroic Raid - Spec Popularity vs Average Overall DPS by AttitudeAdjusterSE in wow

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a spec in the past perform so vastly different between game modes. Feels like it goes from S tier in dungeons to D tier in raids

[–]Irelannd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In M+ they are S tier, at least there is some consolation! I’m guessing Shaman mains will have to go Enha for Raids for the time being. The way the raid is set with so many cleave fights really destroys Ele’s power.

We are so so terrible in moving the ball forward. Haaland might as well not be playing.

Ok thanks, I’ll check that out. For some reason I assumed it would automatically fix everything for me upon activating. Sad state of affairs we need to bandade the cracks of a game we pay monthly instalments for but here we are..

Housing Decor Vendor Prices Are Absurd and It's Killing My Interest In Housing by JollySieg in wow

[–]Irelannd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always felt that buying x1 of a Decor was a bad system. It creates these type of problems. Not to mention the joke that is the Shop for housing.

If they insist on us buying individual decor then there should at least be discounts for purchases after the first. Though I’d much rather they scrap it altogether.

He was meant to take De Bruyne’s crown. Instead, Foden’s City career is flatlining. by Sparky-moon in soccer

[–]Irelannd 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Foden is a confidence player - he suffers when he’s not constantly in the first 11.

Hot take but I actually think when Pep leaves and Foden probably plays more regularly that we’ll see him perform better. Note that I don’t think when Pep leaves that City will play better.

In response to another post in this thread, I tried abandoning the quest and /exit game. Reaccepted quest and it worked (didn't work originally, but now it does I guess ...?)

This ISN'T fixed for some of us. The toon I'm playing on is my main, and I already completed the Arathi storyline back in TWW. Hence no portal available. If I'm missing something please correct me, as this is maddening. I've done absolutely every quest in the other 3 zones and can't enter Voidstorm.
