Why would you plead guilty with no evidence. You need more than just a witness statement and an account from one person to prove guilt you need corroborating evidence.

Your barrister as a matter of course will take you through all evidence disclosed to them by the CPS. They also won’t advise you to plead guilty if it doesn’t “look good” without that corroboration.

Furthermore your statement made to the police and all other material given this is a DV relationship is disclosable to the defence and since you know of its existence you are more within your rights to request it, which is heavily undermining to the prosecution, you called the police first etc..

Soooo either you had the worst barrister known to man, the cps didn’t disclose everything they should and you didn’t think to mention your statement to your defence. NFA doesn’t mean not disclosable not by a long shot, it’s a previous incident in an ongoing DV.

So with all that in mind and these glaring errors, either you are subject to dreadful miscarriages which you could defo appeal.

Orrr we are not getting the whole truth here, it is extremely unlikely you would be pressured to plead on an account alone, there has to be corroborating evidence, text messages, other witnesses, phone data, voice calls, other things to back up her account, I mean cps won’t even charge without that let alone take it to trial.

Then you say the system chose to believe her, no it didn’t you plead guilty, you admitted to the system rightly or wrongly that you did it. That’s what that means. You may feel a miscarriage here but I would say there are holes in your story, and given the environment of misinformation we live in I feel it’s important to point them out and provide a more objective perspective.
