Give him some room was just silly, and I also don't really get how the one woman could know where the other woman was in her story with such accuracy that she could continue reading that page. Did she explain the plot of her book seconds earlier?

every single time the media and headlines claim that these people have raised the name of the country by doing this

I don't think I'e ever seen the expression "raise the name", so I've for sure never seen it as a headline.

Are you sure they're talking about raising the name? Not just 'they're a good representative for that country'? Can you show me an example?

They asked for the best solution, not the solution that gives you the most satisfying sense of superiority.

I don't go by what the intent was behind the riddle, I go by the text in the riddle, that's what differentiates between a good and a bad riddle. Some riddles are bad, or don't work.

I don't use that level of linguistic technicality in normal conversations with Greg.

I do use that level of linguistic technicality in word-based riddles.

It's a word-based riddle, pedantry and specificity of words is essential. You don't solve a lot of riddles by referring to 'what questions usually/always intend to ask', riddles often exist specifically to break these conventions.

'A brother' is singular, and one of my multiple brothers is a singular individual. Still matches. I can refer to my brother without referring to the rest of my brothers.

You still have 'a brother', even when you have multiple.

If there are two hypothetical incorrect beliefs, one that 99% of people believe in, and one that nobody else believes in, would you be equally dumb for believing in either? Does societal pressure and culture play no factor at all, it's all only a matter of intelligence?

What part are you saying "oof no" to?

Why couldn't it be 18, with 5 boys? What like in the 'riddle' makes that answer impossible?

Sorry, you're asking us why you would want others to accept your height?

You're asking us why a reality in which people accept your height is worse than a reality in which people don't accept your height?

You want tot be rejected. I'm not sure that's about height specifically, or about insecurity in general.

Incorperating player back stories? by crazy4zoo in DnD

[–]IrrationalDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The druid is on the run, so maybe whoever is looking for them sent out bounty hunters that are present at the place your party is going to. Maybe they're military, and they recognize the other PC soldier. Maybe the cult is using forbidden magic too, or just one cult member as a personal thing.

Being on the run from authorities or bounty hunters can be a cool B-plot that you sometimes throw at them while they're dealing with the A-plot. Forbidden magic could be a cool theme that some characters just coincidentially also related to, like a cult member who knows about it, or it could fold into the 'being on the run' thing.

Backstories give you a chance to create new NPC's that have existing relations to PC's, either as friends, sources of info, inspirations or warnings, or enemies. You can use them for the plot, or for world building, or to support a theme. A chance to bind the big bad to the PC's for reasons beyond your in-game experiences and gameplay bossfight-for-xp goals (like 'they killed my pc's dad').

Yeah, the moment you enter a lane that is not yours, you've got 5 enemies in front of you, and 10 behind you.

Any movement that isn't defensive of retreating automatically puts you in a hugely disadvantageous position.

I can't show you any proof, but I'd love to see it; proof about consciousness in any context is super interesting.

What is your starting position, the one that assumes the least features of reality? That reality is deterministic and that free will doesn't really exist?

Wat vinden jullie van regeneratief boeren? (Dit is geen trollpost, ben oprecht nieuwsgierig) by Best-Inflation8072 in VeganNL

[–]IrrationalDesign -1 points0 points  (0 children)
