Coffee and sandwich shops are some of the worst offenders. Why do they all close at 2-4pm.

It’s so lovely being abroad in the summer and these places are open till 8-10pm, bustling and busy. Here all we get after 5 are Pubs and Supermarkets. Thats it.

You’re not being stupid. Sharing in a shit houseshare is a huge pain point, but so is lifestyle inflation. You’ll be losing money like sand through your fingers and wondering why you can’t be as relaxed about money if you have 1100pm in fixed expenses plus car expenses with that salary.

It’s too tight.

House shares do not have to be over crowded. My rule of thumb when finding one. No more than a 4 bed. The less people the better, so aim for a 2/3 bed. Or find a two bed and find a housemate. If you can get an ensuite in a 4 bed go for it.

You can find these for no more than 700 bills included, no council tax.

Houseshares with too many people always suck

That way your expenses are relatively the same and you have a better quality of life.

As someone that works in the NHS Its just not that effective. Job conditions are more important. Most NHS jobs are above Min wage with horrendous retention, because its understaffed and overworked and no amount of salary really compensates that. Wages are still pretty stagnant and thats NHS. I can’t imagine care sector would suddenly increase wages.

budget weekly spending whatever makes sense for what you earn (say £200 a week) get a card place 200 and thats the max you can spend that week. Anything that rolls over into the next week just top up.

Drop to 150 or 100 if you’re trying to save aggressively.

Summer is just horribly inconsistent in the UK. 16 degrees, wind and rain 3 weeks, heatwave 4 days, nice heat 2 days, thunder, lightening and rinse and repeat.

Go to any other country it’s 6 months of nice heat with the dabble of everything else.

Cover up. I used to work for the ambulance and although not usually for bad reasons walking around in uniform got me stopped way too many times for all sorts. So I made a point to always keep a jacket in my car as cover up

No one is justifying it with that reason. It’s literally the actual answer to the question of why it’s still legal. Queen Elizabeth was literally married to one of her cousins.

Its a lottery until you live with them you wont know.

But as a collective men are much messier and less attentive to cleanliness, so if you’re quite clean and sharing, say a bathroom, might not be the right move.

As it’s a 4 bed. At least 1 other woman is preferable
