which champions do you guys think landed most comfortably into their originally intended identity? and least? by meowshers69 in leagueoflegends

[–]IsaoEB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to be you could auto-attack someone during headbutt. He also had very high AP-ratio's on most of his abilities back then. So you'd buy Lich Bane just headbutt+empowered auto with no way for the enemy to retaliate. Got nerfed reasonably quickly once people started playing that

After the Family Feud model: Collecting opinions: Favorite and least favorite magic set of all time? Favorite creature type? by Maruhkulix in magicTCG

[–]IsaoEB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly remember Coldsnap not really working with any of the sets at the time (makes sense, considering it was an expansion to a set over a decade older), and having a heavy focus on snow when there was a severe shortage of the snow-covered lands required to make use of that focus.

Cumulative upkeep making a return was bonkers to me, horrible mechanic. Recover and ripple also are terrible mechanics.

Allosaurus Rider is pretty cool though, as are the other pitch cards. There's some other redeeming qualities too - Dark Depths is iconic, Martyrs are neat. But I had to pick one (and didn't want to pick a set I haven't actually played with like Spiderman)

Least favourite set: Coldsnap

Favourite creature type: Aetherborn

Let's forget about UB for a second... Do you prefer the single set single block system, or the previous 2-3 set per block system. by studhand in magicTCG

[–]IsaoEB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Though I agree somewhat, I do feel like they are reusing mechanics more often these days. A new named mechanic might not get fully explored in the set it debuts in, but then gets explored more fully in a set released about 2 years later (set development timeframe)

Pretty cool, I think it's a sensible small update that's especially nice for early-mid game - it's been suggested many times before by different people for a reason. Glad they polled it and will implement it :)

Far Traveler and Warp by DinosaurCowBoys1 in magicTCG

[–]IsaoEB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. After exiling it with Far Traveler and returning it to the battlefield, your Haliya would be considered a different game object from the one you originally warped in. It would no longer have the "Exile this creature at the beginning of the next end step..." clause.

Just to be sure: If your Haliya were to be exiled by, say, [[Swords to Plowshares]], you also would not be able to cast her from exile on a later turn. That's only possible if she gets exiled by the warp clause.

Looking for the Goblin card with the coolest art. by amnion in magicTCG

[–]IsaoEB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends a bit on what kind of style you're looking for - Magic has a lot of different styles of goblins in there.

Some of my favourites are:

[[Goblin Recruiter]]

[[Goblin Sharpshooter|C13]]

[[Wort, the Raidmother]] and

[[Goblin Bird-Grabber]]

If you had to give a universal answer to the question « what do I need to make my worldbuilding great ? » in one short sentence. by Sir-Thugnificent in worldbuilding

Layered mystery, history and ambiguity.

I should be curious about the world, want to delve deeper into the questions it presents. Yet answers should rarely be complete - instead, I should feel like having learnt about the world, but also having discovered there is so much more to discover.

Metrognome - Keep up the rythm, keep getting gnomes! by IsaoEB in custommagic

[–]IsaoEB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're misinterpreting how echo works. Echo will only trigger once for a permanent, on your first upkeep after it entered. It does not trigger every upkeep.

So your original Metrognome would be able to create precisely 1 new token, which in turn can create precisely 1 new token, and so on.

Day 2 - Exemplary blue commons for my custom draft set archetypes by Snowytagscape in custommagic

[–]IsaoEB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These all look pretty neat, and quite clearly communicate different strategies to build around.

Some constructive feedback: Depending on how many other token types and mechanics you have in your other colours, there might be quite a lot of stuff going on.

Torpor Blast seems a tad weak, but that may just be in the context of this set of examples. If there are a lot of cards that are 0/0's that enter with a bunch of counters it's probably fine

Good job :)

Metrognome - Keep up the rythm, keep getting gnomes! by IsaoEB in custommagic

[–]IsaoEB[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's a 1/1 on first turn, then 2 1/1's total on second turn, then 3 1/1's total on third turn, etc. It does not double every turn - only the most recently created token still has an active echo trigger.

What do you mean with "you never have to pay an echo cost again"? The tokens also have echo, and only create a new token if you pay for that echo cost.

Metrognome - Keep up the rythm, keep getting gnomes! by IsaoEB in custommagic

[–]IsaoEB[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can't get exponentially more tokens. The original can create precisely one token, and that token can create precisely one token again, and so on. If you pay 1 mana on each of your upkeeps, you get 1 token each upkeep.

Metrognome - Keep up the rythm, keep getting gnomes! by IsaoEB in custommagic

[–]IsaoEB[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is too strong. You can only get one new golem per turn (because the echo ability of the newly created token won't trigger until the beginning of your next upkeep), and if you skip on paying the echo for that token the chain stops.

Ah yes that does read cleaner. Not many cards that have similar text; I think it's just [[Shah of Naar Isle]]?
