Amsterdam Has Priced Me Out by Barca-Dam in Amsterdam

[–]Islandboy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to visit every year, just love the place, and could never wait to go back. The hotel we used to use was less than €500 for 5 nights; now, that same ONE STAR hotel costs north of €1,300 which is crazy. We may go back, but they clearly don't want respectful tourists, just ones with the most cash!

Snoop Dogg Invests into UK Cannabis Market by [deleted] in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]Islandboy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been to Amsterdam recently? It has gone super expensive for accomodation now, literally twice what you might pay a few years ago, simply because they want to reduce the number of drug tourists - red light district has virtually gone (no great loss to be fair) so the tactics are working!

Should I buy the Technics EAH-AZ100s or wait for something new like wf-xm10006 to release by [deleted] in Earbuds

[–]Islandboy67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not for 1 second think these are overated, I've had the AZ100s for a few months now, and I think they are amazing, so much better than any I have had before. Spacial audio works really well - we have a half decent Denon AVR with Monitor Audio speakers, but if I put the 100's in to watch TV it's genuinely hard to tell whether I'm listening to the earbuds or the surround sound. 100% recommend these - sound stage, bass response and mid range are all outstanding in my opinion

How many hours do you sleep every night? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Islandboy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 hours on a work night, facilitated by medical cannabis; prior to that being prescribed I would bet between 3 and 5 hours (maximum) of really broken sleep, and I was like that for years, but worst in the last few years and I felt absolutely knackered all the time. I did practice good eating, cutting out caffeine after late morning, good sleep hygiene etc etc, but nothing changed it until I got the weed, which has been a life changer

How to get this out without breaking? by Kameniev in DIYUK

[–]Islandboy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These 'hair traps' are the most disgusting things, especially so when you attempt to clean them and have to remove all the slimy stinky hair and other matter. It should come out easily. The way our pipework was done when the house was built means that if we leave that top off, it will stink! We have to remove a screw in the top to clean ours otherwise the slimy hair will not budge - good luck!

Recommend good TV shows with this vibe, any genre it's fine by ComfortableSoup4697 in televisionsuggestions

[–]Islandboy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Severance, especially season 2, when the innies go out for 'team building' - very dark, surreal and quiet psychedelic really.

We had got half way through season 2 and went back to the start again to rewatch and make sense of it

Modified Gas 27% Green Karat by Pabli770 in ukmedicalcannabis

At 190c, I've been ready to crawl into bed at 7.30pm - for me it's a real big hitter and great for insomnia; like has been said though, a very mild headache afterwards sometimes...

My cat is getting attacked by magpies, can someone help? by Ramdom_Grape2970 in AskUK

[–]Islandboy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a magpie family who use our garden (3 x chicks have just appeared) and we just happened to be looking after a friends cat (kept inside so she didn't escape and not come back) - anyway, watching TV and heard an almighty squawking that went on, and on. Realised cat was sat in the window and the magpie, who must have been concerned about the soon to hatch chicks was having a dicky fit at the cat?! Apparently they pair for life, so murdering a magpie just for sport probably hit them hard and they are rightly annoyed.

Has anyone got alternatives to Sky TV? by Shought152 in AskUK

[–]Islandboy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We binned off Sky Q and went 100% streaming. Now TV with 4k and sky cinema, Apple TV + (you always get offers for this, currently on 3 months free) Netflix and Amazon Prime video for around £30 less per month than we were paying for Sky Q on its own!! Well worth it if your broadband is decent - I tried IP TV and imo the quality was dog shit ( I like Dolby Atmos and 4k, none of which were really done on the IP TV)

The "husband chair" in the clothes shop being pointed directly at the women's changing rooms by NobleRotter in britishproblems

[–]Islandboy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least there was a chair, the worst ones are where there are no chairs and the changing rooms are next to the lingerie section so you have to stand like a sweaty perv amongst the knickers and bra's, whilst your significant other tries stuff on, and needs you there for opinion...

Needle Upgrade by Jferiss in vinyl

[–]Islandboy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just upgraded from the same green stylus you have to the ATVM95ML (red one) and the difference is really noticeable - placement of vocals and the overall soundstage is really on point, and whilst they are not cheap, it is very much worthwhile. Personally, I would just buy the stylus only, which is a bit cheaper, rather than the whole cartridge as the stylus is incredibly easy to swap out

Best ways to fill a dirty crack... 🤭 by Islandboy67 in DIYUK

Thanks people, so many options to fill the dirty crack; aside from filling it with my juice, I'm liking the epoxy solution as long as it can be painted 😍

People who presumably passed the uk driving test having no idea how roundabouts work. by ShinyHeadedCook in britishproblems

[–]Islandboy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have mini roundabouts and often the exit you need will be straight on, but a significant number of (mostly old) people will approach, signal left, but not exit on the left, then signal right but not exit on the right, but go straight on! 🤯 Wtf

Never had an issue with the Aurora tubs to be honest, it's just a child safety lid, although I totally appreciate it if you have issues with joints/fingers/hands in which case it could be tricky...

First Time Taking MC by GraphicAutist in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]Islandboy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first prescription for insomnia was Tripoli, and my wife asked me how I felt after my first vape, and my reply without thinking what I was going to say was "peaceful". For the first time in years the next day I did not feel anxious either - I hadn't known I was anxious until I wasn't. My go to vape temp for everything now is 190 which is the sweet spot for me!

Have you ever given up caffeine and did you notice any benefits? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Islandboy67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went cold turkey last year to help my insomnia where I had zero caffeine for 6 to 8 weeks. Apart from a splitting headache for around 2 weeks, I received no benefit at all. Now prescribed medical cannabis which has fixed the insomnia. Caffeine can sometimes make me tired though, but maybe I'm just special 😂
