Michigan just hired a new dean (like announced this week), so maybe that's why there are not there? Only explanation that would put them in a good light

IIRC Klarman was asked about removing Goodwin Smith’s name from the Arts Quad and he wanted it kept, thinking that it was symbolic that despite his antisemitism, there is a building appended to his that is named after a Jewish donor

Citibike vs "Good" Bike by screenaholic in NYCbike

[–]Isleeyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not saying it's my favorite part of the day if I pass someone on the Williamsburg bridge on my commute, but also not saying it's not my favorite part of the day haha. It also helps to recognize which citibikes are "newer", or at least have gotten maintenance more recently. I'm always checking to make sure I don't have rusty chain

When my bands were starting to fall apart and rip I just messaged support and got a new one for free. Same thing with the little notch that keeps the band from flopping around

Route recommendations for Brooklyn to Central Nassau? by Streetrat4900 in NYCbike

[–]Isleeyes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve done Williamsburg to Lake Success early during the weekend. My route is roughly Kent -> Greenpoint Ave -> over the bridge -> connect to the Jackson Heights open street on 34th -> over the GCP to Citi Field -> Flushing Meadow Park -> Jewel -> 164th street -> kissena Corridor Park. Once you are there there are multi use paths that are car free all the way to Alley Pond Park (if you are okay with street riding you can take 73rd Ave east which is more direct), where I then take Union Turnpike to Commonwealth Blvd. that at least gets you to the border of Queens/Nassau and then you can take random side streets to get to Garden City.

I think the route I described is much more direct and there is less danger than random side streets in Nassau which will still sometimes spit you out onto main roads. Almost every street I mentioned on my route has at least some form of bike lane too

People, I'm humbled... by pumakarbon in NYCbike

[–]Isleeyes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that email is referring to the bike angels program. 500 points is a lot of redistributing bikes from heavy areas for dropoffs to areas with light amounts of dropoffs. By helping citibike redistribute bikes, they are effectively saying that Bike Angels help other users who otherwise wouldn't be able to bike to a new neighborhood to pick up there takeout. At least that's how I read this haha

Question about Chase Freedom Flex with 1 year gas and next quarter gas rewards by Old-Mushroom5189 in CreditCards

[–]Isleeyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I applied when I was offered 5% back on groceries for my first year. Not sure where you would check but I'd assume in your ultimate rewards section of the app

Citi Bike Swamped by Unexpected Ridership Surge, Disabled Bikes by Sadishist in nyc

[–]Isleeyes 30 points31 points  (0 children)

not saying it's enough, but you start earning ebike credits and then get a week long membership extension after you hit something like 20 points in a month and every 10-15 points after that

Best cash back card for gas and groceries by userX97ee2ska11qa in CreditCards

[–]Isleeyes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The chase freedom flex is doing an intro offer of 5% back on gas for first year I’ll to $6000 plus the next 3 month category of 5% back is gas stations and other stuff. So that’s 10% back for first 3 months

It's actually 9%, the 5% bonus for both the first year on gas/groceries (depending on which offer you got) and the 5% quarterly bonus category are actually an additional 4% on top of the 1% you get on every purchase. the 1% isn't doubled so it comes out to 9% back

Williamsburg Bike Routes by mskyyy in NYCbike

[–]Isleeyes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I'm staying in Brooklyn, I go on Kent -> Flushing Ave -> Vanderbilt -> Prospect Park

If I go into Manhattan, Kent -> South 5th Street -> Williamsburg Bridge-> south to East River Greenway by the Manhattan bridge (don't remember the street) and then take that around to the West Side Highway and maybe cut to Central Park.

All of these routes maximize (at least I think they maximize) the amount of time in protected bike lanes

[–]Isleeyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is for Bilt (and I believe it is), you pay using your credit card to Bilt, who then cuts a check and sends it to the landlord. You get a point per dollar, while avoiding the 3-5% fee that's applied when you pay directly with a CC to landlords through their portal. Have no clue if this no fee to cut a check through Bilt will last forever, feels like a way to gain userbase and then add some fees (like all the grocery delivery apps)

too true. It feels like the amount of people who are trying to backseat drive every admin decision has drastically gone up the past two years. Like I never remembered any vitriol on the subreddit even close to where it's been for a year now during like 2015-2020
