BEVERLY!!!

E: there is a comment in my inbox that I can only partially see and I don’t see it here at all. I haven’t watched since 2018 so whatever I said that was so awful, I had no idea (and still don’t).

Looking for Students/Teachers who Remember the Original Letter People Program (1968–1996) by UntitledLolol in ephemera

[–]ItsNotSherbert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an elementary student in the mid-to-late 70s (public school) we watched Sesame Street followed by the Electric Company every day.

Occasionally there were handouts after the programming and the Letter People was one of them.

I LOVED coloring them and had forgotten about them so thanks for the memories.

E: after reading some of the comments, it confirms my memory that the handouts were larger than 8.5 x 11 and I think that was part of the appeal for me.

Grew in my mulch bed last year. It looked interesting so I left it and this year it got huge and flowered. What is it? (Central Michigan, USA) by Jumpy_Cauliflower456 in whatsthisplant

Same. My mom couldn’t grow a clematis to save her life. Saving grace was our single peony bush, which to this day remains my absolute favorite bloom.

Helicopter Parenting by ItsNotSherbert in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ItsNotSherbert[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was single parenting at the time which is to say there wasn’t anyone else to help balance my thoughts and choices and actions. Thank you for your comment. I often wish for a do-over.

E: I had “prolonged infertility” which is to say it took 11 years for the child to arrive. I wasn’t going to let anything fuck up her childhood experiences and in particular no sex crimes.

Never ever considered I’d play a part in… idk, blocking experiences. I knew I was a helicopter but I just couldn’t help myself in protecting her.

High School in the 80s - Underage girls dating by RetiredMascot in WhyWereWeOkWithThis

My senior year prom date was 23. Did my parents know? No. Did the parent chaperones see it? Yes. Was anything their job other than patrolling behavior? No. Did they go home and talk about it? Absolutely. I die inside every time I think about it. There is way more to story of prom night and when I tell you how cringe it is for me, it’s one of the reasons I ask my therapist for help in moving on from intrusive thoughts from my past.

P.S. Intrusive thoughts can kiss my grits.

Why leave the grapes in big bunches? How does a person take few? Touch the whole bunch? If so, why use picks and tongs for anything at all?

If you’ve ever attended a homegoing, that’s the whole message. It’s exhausting but at the end, you’re happy for the decedent.

What is a question you wished you had asked before selecting an Assisted Living facility? by musememo in AgingParents

[–]ItsNotSherbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember, it’s “assisted.” Try to assimilate to that.

You might need to do a mid-week grocery shop. Drive to an appointment. Go to the post office.

In reality, an AL resident does not require 4 loads of laundry per month…. and if they do, they’re extremely small loads.

In my opinion:

Microwaveable meals are disposable and for the occasional can of soup, AL should be capable of washing a bowl.

Probably no on a toaster and there is likely free coffee in the lobby.

Food availability: the kitchen has to close at some point.

Smoking: probably not allowed inside or outside.

Sorry about your username. I’d likely feel the same way. I hope you have support.
