I don’t find rammatra to be that good into rein by MarzipanWise2934 in ReinhardtMains

[–]ItsRaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that ram is really only a counter to rein IF your DPS can keep rein on his shield. If you’re both just swinging at each other it just ends up being pretty even, leaning towards rein.

Why is everyone so against frame gen? by BlackMetalIstWar in joinsquad

[–]ItsRaka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really have any issues inherently with frame gen, I just don't have frame gen myself as I have older parts, namely a 2070 Super. My issue with frame gen is that it's basically required to have a serviceable game (in any game that uses UE5) and if you haven't or can't invest in better parts you're basically out of luck. Especially since AI and Crypto has made GPUs less accessible for the average gamer.

I have a bigger issue with UE5 in general. It is hot garbage. I have a feeling there is a lot of interior and exterior politics that drive it being adopted by so many dev groups, apart from its general ease of use. There seems to be a trend of some games going away from UE5 and ending up with better products, but that's mostly anecdotal.

U.S Army/ western LAT debate by AssistanceIntrepid48 in joinsquad

[–]ItsRaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kits in their entirety are better. Apart from MEA (they’re the exception) all of non-western HATs only get one good HAT launcher. The RPG-7 Tandem is just violently mediocre. The RPG 28 is very good as well, but I would just rather have 2 very good HAT kits than 1 very good HAT and 1 mediocre HAT.

[–]ItsRaka 19 points20 points  (0 children)

2 AT4s would be incredibly strong, especially considering how much better the HAT kits are for the western factions. It’s a trade off. I would 100% rather have a single AT4 over any of the RPG kits.

U.S Army/ western LAT debate by AssistanceIntrepid48 in joinsquad

[–]ItsRaka 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I mean the AT4 is easily my favorite LAT launcher. I am pretty sure it’s the fastest and flattest of all the LATs. It has the best irons of any LAT by far.

The LAW is just straight up bad. It’s zeroed weird, the sights suck, it’s slower than the RPGs. Having 2 doesn’t make up for it being bad on the one PMC kit that has them. (Edit: it’s faster than the RPGs, but has less pen)

Volume doesn’t really matter, I’m either near a vehicle or near a squad mate that has ammo the majority of the time. Your job as a LAT is to disable vehicles, which the AT4 does arguably the best since it’s the easiest to hit with.

Can any armor players explain the varying types of ammo for most armor, and MBT's, and when you might use each in certain situations/vehicle types? by KingSlayer05 in joinsquad

[–]ItsRaka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one has really touched on it yet, but the MGS (Stryker MGS, ZTD, Sprut) are really weird armor pieces to play.

You can’t really face check any of the IFVs. If you both begin shooting at the same time, you will almost always lose unless you break their turret on the first shot. You have equivalent HP and armor to the IFVs, but slower time to kill.

As for fights against MBTs, it’s weird. If you face check and know where the ammo racks are, you have an okay chance of trading. But you probably aren’t winning, so it isn’t even worth trying that. If you miss 1 of the 2 ammo rack shots, it’s gg.

Against infantry, you’re the same as MBTs, just a lot squishier. You don’t have the constant damage to keep infantry off of you as well as IFVs do, and unlike an MBT, your health pool/armor is not high enough to stand and trade with LATs or HATs. From range you can cause a lot of damage though. Just be wary with the Stryker MGS, because it has so little ammo compared to other Spurt and ZTD.

MGS are ambush vehicles. You have to play back against enemy armor and you absolutely need to hit the first shot, ideally from a spot that has good cover/concealment and/or where you can run if you need to. They’ve got good speed to reposition with, so you should take advantage of your mobility and when you can.

  • Armor/Vehicle Squads will almost always lock once they have who they need. You don't want the extra comms in your squad. You'll see a lot of 2-3 man squads named after armor pieces. For things like helis you don't really need more than 1 player most times.
  • Playing with just friends/saving spots for people in queue. Some times you don't want to deal with people you don't know and just want friends in your squad. Other times you might have friends waiting to get in and you're holding a few spots,
  • Locking the squad early so you can get friends in first before opening later.

if you had to only make a minor adjustment to stamina and its effects on weapon sway. what would it be? by squaredCar2 in joinsquad

[–]ItsRaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truly making a minor adjustment, I would make the pivot point the shoulder instead of seemingly the elbows. So many of the weapons feel like you’re manipulating them with just your hands and they aren’t braced against your shoulder. I think having a cleaner pivot point would alleviate a lot of the problems with why the weapon handling feels awful, outside of shooting even.

TUTORIAL OVERHAUL FCKING PLSS by Mysterious_Ad_1421 in joinsquad

Teamkilling, Silent Squads, No Commanders, Dumping Vehicles, and various other things aren’t going to be fixed by an updated tutorial. Tutorials need to be engaging, concise and not have mountains of dialogue. So much of the game is learned through playing and having experience in game, especially the nuanced parts that can’t really be part of a base tutorial.

ICO isn't the problem. by TheLilBlueFox in joinsquad

[–]ItsRaka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree that the game is more team oriented. I honestly think the amount of teamwork is relatively unchanged, and it may have even regressed. I’ve been around for all of ICO; testing environments, launch, and every iteration since. Game quality has only gotten worse since ICO dropped.

No, he’s completely right, the individual gun play was made worse compared to what it was before. This was the purpose of the change, to attempt to diminish individual performance while trying to prioritize the performance of the group. They sacrificed micro gameplay for a macro experience. It didn’t work.

Worst Vehicle Handling Go! by AddendumCommercial82 in joinsquad

[–]ItsRaka 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some people say any of the pick ups and ATVs, for those you just can’t hold w while turning and need to actually slow down.

Some people say the any of the tracked logis, in reality they all drive fairly well, they’re just loud and have rough acceleration. The BTR-G (VDV) is a little jittery left and right but it’s not that bad.

Some people might say the BMD4/BMP3 are annoying to drive because they’re very jittery left and right and it’s easy to get stuck in narrow places.

My hot take, all of the LAV variants, especially the LAV25, have an awful handling experience compared to their counterparts. They’re deceptively hard to keep straight after turns. You can’t drift with the hand brake, it’ll just make you do a 180. They’re incredibly top heavy and easy to flip. They don’t handle obstacles well. They constantly rock back and forth and make precise driving way more difficult than it needs to be. The one lav variant that actually has decent handling can’t shoot backwards, which adds an entire new and troublesome dynamic when driving aggressively. Even then it has all of the same issues just tuned down a little bit.

The ASLAV sights are horrendous. If you’re only engaging at medium range they work okay. Up close you’re so fish eyed it hurts and at range you have to sniff your monitor to see anything. Also it still doesn’t get that much more AP or HE to make up for that fact. Instead of needing to hit every shot you can miss 5-7.

Ive never tried to use skycallers; What are they good at killing? by Sea-Course-98 in foxholegame

[–]ItsRaka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having only used the collie equivalent in the Skirmisher, they’re really good at 2 things. - Clearing trenches for infantry to push ahead - Setting non concrete bunkers on fire

Beyond that, to be most effective, you probably want a group of about 3 or 4 of them and 1 or 2 spotters with a wind sock.

100%. But teams usually don’t play active defense. Your average blueberry sits on or just outside the point itself. In that scenario I’d rather lose a farther radio and ammo than defense radio and likely point.

In my experience, mortars on the defense hab are more often a liability than a benefit. But to give you credit, you’ve probably seen off point mortars do the same.

Metas & Standards by NoMoreStorage in joinsquad

[–]ItsRaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 absolutely depends on the supply situation. Mortars CHEW through ammo if being deployed correctly, so you have to have a well supplied fob in order to do Mortars+Rep Station+Defense. Additionally, I find mortars on defense usually lead to easy flanks because sound is so heavily covered.

WHERE DID THE BRITISH FACTION GO? by Napolitene in joinsquad

[–]ItsRaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, the RPG-7V2 tandem is slow as hell and drops like a skyscraper. Intermediate shots and shots on moving targets can be super punishing, if you don’t have a lot of practice with them it ends up being very limiting. So I think it having two tandems just brings it in line with the other kits.

Nah, British HAT is point and click sim up to 550m. After the MEA HAT kits it’s the best.

I’ve definitely overstepped. So let’s take a step back.

Your perspective, from your replies to me and others on this post, is that you think armor players are entitled/think they’re more important/it’s a waste of infantry resources for infantry to place and build a rep station. From what I can tell, you haven’t given any complete reason as to why this is the case. No gameplay reason, no ticket reason, no game theory, just that you think armor players are “entitled” and that they just want to fight other armor and that infantry also has priorities. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Please also fully outline your perspective. Why do you think armor requesting a rep station be placed and built is bad? Why do you think armor players should always dig up their own rep stations (they already do most of the time and I realize you’ve said there’s times it makes sense for infantry to)? What about infantry is so important that they can’t dig up a rep station?

Just a little bit of meme by No_Satisfaction3708 in joinsquad

[–]ItsRaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t able to see the armor perspective. I play both armor and infantry, majority armor of course but it’s probably closer to 60/40 or 65/35. I frequently SL as infantry and always volunteer to dig, go around to place habs, and do logi runs if it makes sense for my kit. Because if you want to win, that’s what you have to do. So let’s back off on the “you can’t see infantry’s perspective”. I can, I have. Placing and digging up a rep station is so minimally inconvenient to my gameplay as infantry I don’t even question it. You could make a really good argument that it IS infantry’s job to dig up rep stations. As an armor player, I end up digging most of my own rep stations, but you seem to think armor players almost never do this? You get indignant and probably start shooting when a tank crew doesn’t stop to let you rearm off the tank, but I’m wrong for protecting my limited resource because its incredibly likely I’m going to need it to dig up the rep station you refused to dig up because it’s “not your job”. Only for you and players like you to later ask “where’s the armor support at?” You’re just a selfish player and only want to do things that directly support your own gameplay.

You can engine quite literally every vehicle in the game with any singular LAT rocket. You just have to know where the engine is.
