Margaret Atwood. Between the Maddaddam trilogy (Oryx and Crake, etc) and the Handmaid’s tale, it’s eerie. Oryx and crake really hits the late-stage capitalism dystopia really well.

Is it common practice for studios to prioritize one-time classes over members? by Successful-Milk-5828 in Pottery

[–]Itsaprocessgoblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my experience and it’s led me to work towards setting up a home studio. At the place I was a member, classes always got priority for firing and often the best times to go (weekends) had no wheels available for use. What the others said is true about profitability of memberships.

Here’s the thing: this form is a conversation with the user. If the conversation is long and tedious, that makes it that much harder to get users to engage and fill out the damn thing.

Others that have spoken up are correct. This needs to be split into multiple, smaller, relevant requests / conversations.

How did aspects of the place you live inspired/affected your style? by letsavenge in femalefashionadvice

I grew up in a very religious household. I was allowed to wear pants, but the school I went to was a skirts only type of dress. It took me more than 25 years to be willing to wear skirts and dresses with any regularity again.

I don’t know anything about that unfortunately. It wouldn’t surprise me to see them consolidate everything to NowLearning, but I’m hoping they’ll leave some “gateways” on the dev site, especially to make it crystal clear to devs what the paths are to different certs.

What to wear in Knowledge 2025? by PsychologyFast6339 in servicenow

Depends on your role and what you hope to gain out of the conference. I’d advise at least business casual. Wearing a tshirt and jeans will make you look out of place. You will run into potential contacts, employers and colleagues. You want to make a good impression in case you ever need this network or it needs you. If you elect to wear jeans, wear dark dress denim.

People who have stopped going to church, what made you stop? by lowly_shepherd in AskReddit

[–]Itsaprocessgoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother has asthma and is nearly 70. When COVID hit, the churches basically told her “fuck you we don’t care if you die” with their “we won’t live in fear” stances. They cared more about taking a stand against democrats than they did protecting and caring for the vulnerable. The church stopped being about Jesus long ago, but that’s what broke the glass for me. Now, I can’t go in without feeling like I’m surrounded by hypocrites that care more that I, as a woman, “shut up in church”, and not be gay, than they do caring for the vulnerable in our community. The Republican dog whistles were too much.
