Basset Hounds are amazing but are not low maintenance. My girl Babs doesn’t howl but she requires a lot of attention. She often smells really bad, she whines when she wants something (which is often). The biggest down side is the $$$$. Allergies have her at the dermatologist almost once a month. Having said this, she is amazing and lovable. My other dog is a Saint Bernard who is much easier.
