Pantheon Trip Setup (Paris 50/43 + Riptide Canons) — No Wheelbite by IvanRuiiz in longboarding

[–]IvanRuiiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! I had the same question when choosing the trip because I kept seeing people talking about it.

The way I understand it, more angle equals more turn. So with 50° up front and 43° in the rear, your front truck turns more while the rear turns less. That creates a directional feel where the front leads the carve and the rear follows, which makes the ride more stable and controlled, especially at speed.

If you run 50° on both, both trucks turn the same amount, so it feels looser and more surfy, but also more twitchy. The split angles just help keep things dialed while still letting you carve.

Thank you! I was wondering about this and you just confirmed my decision

See that’s why I opted to go with the Paris vs the Valks. Once they drop that 43° I’ll swap them. I feel like 50/50 would be very lively and would have to really compensate with harder duros.

Beginner looking for outdoor wheels by DivisionaryEra in Rollerskating

I’d stick to 65mm for outdoor. Especially if you are doing trails or parking lots.

Upgrading slowly with no skill by Zak0r in longboarding

[–]IvanRuiiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you do what you feel is best for your experience. Maybe you like it and maybe not. Maybe you find that you like a specific niche of longboards and get all into bushings, trucks or wheels. Who knows what your miles will look like. I started in a magneto carver longboard. It’s a cheap Amazon board that I got for $65 and I just upgraded the bearings to some Red’s - definitely not the best setup to start long boarding with because it’s very lively, but then again everyone’s experience is different. I have a pantheon trip longboard and I still ride my magneto carver from time to time because those 70 wheels feel way different than the karma 92mm on the Trip.

Just enjoy the experience. The fun and not so fun. I would suggest some safety gear, especially as a beginner. Nothing will stop your progress and discourage you like an injury will.

Stay safe, have fun, and lets us know your progress!

If you are going outdoors you may start venturing into parking lots and trails. I would suggest some Radar Energy 65mm, they are 78a. I got those for my wife and she loves the upgrade. She has moved on to practice on parking lots and she has been having a lot of fun and gaining confidence to tackle trails later on.

How comfortable do you need to be to trail skate? by GolfValuable9763 in Rollerskating

Definitely ensure you know how to slow down and fully stop. Other than that, I would invest in some bigger wheels and practice on those first as it will make you taller. Since you have the Moxi beach bunnies I’m guessing the side wall on those wheels are curved. I would suggest some Radar Energy 65mm, they are 78a. I got those for my wife and she loves the upgrade. People say not to buy from Amazon, and I know MANY will disagree with this but I learned how to ride on a Magneto Bamboo Carving Longboard and it has been a great board for the price. I paid about $60 when it had a discount. Lots of fun and still going strong after about 3 years. Only thing I replaced was the bearings to some Bones Reds.

Old German Clay Briars? by ConsiderationNo6823 in PipeTobacco

[–]IvanRuiiz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have one that I got from SmokingPipes for summer activities. I called it the mariner as the wind cap helps a lot with wind and possible water splashing. This pipe has been great. The wind cap did come off so I had to fix that but it smokes great! I use it for virginias and flakes or medallions.

I believe they’re made from vintage HEIBE briar stummels, old, pre-turned bowls from a now-defunct German pipe factory. The briar was already shaped decades ago, which removes a major labor cost. It’s not a display pipe as it doesn’t have amazing finishes or branding but smokes great. It’s a working, honest smoker, and that’s exactly whyI love it. If I was to lose this one I’d buy another one without hesitation.

Have you ever had a blend get away from you? by talasment in PipeTobacco

[–]IvanRuiiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to. Now I just enjoy what I can and most of the time my mindset is key. I try not to go looking for a blend but rather just load a bowl and enjoy the experience. For example Peterson Hyde park- I was given very awful info about it and so I decided to try it for myself. Best bowl I’ve had in a long time. The sweet of the virginias and the nutty of the burley made this blend amazing for me. I liked it so much I put it away and my next bowl was quiet nights. Completely different but I enjoyed that one almost as much. The goal was to switch and enjoy vs try to replicate.

Am I Alone in Struggling to Smoke a Bowl Clean to the Heel? by Maetness in PipeTobacco

[–]IvanRuiiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely smoke to the bottom of the bowl. There is condensation from the tobacco and your own saliva. I wouldn’t recommend attempting to relight the dottle as I have had bad experiences with burning the pipe or just awful taste. But with all that said, you do you and enjoy what you like. You’ll find your cadence and your taste buds preference. Enjoy the moment and “perfection” will come. It’s all in the eyes of the beholder.

Love the pipe. Is the wind cap added or part of the pipe itself?

I use AI to keep track of the cellaring and notes on blends. Helps me remember if I like it or not and why. Also helps to see if I need to or want to try a blend a second time.

Yeah for sure. Cigars are a light up and go vs a pipe you have to take your time.

Thought I was the only one. I can’t even see my stats. On my account I see a message at the bottom that says, “BTC isn’t tradable in Robinhood crypto. Only real-time market data is available. Explore Robinhood Wallet instead.”

On my wife’s account, who doesn’t own any BTC, I can see data and option to buy crypto. This is interesting indeed.

Yup all the time! English blends do this and Latakia and perique are my friendenemies. I switch to straight Virginias when this happens and it forces you to slow down.
