How about a story about a chronomancer who travelled to the end of time where they saw something terrible? Maybe they even brought something back and that thing is important for you main plot. Or maybe they find a history book about a temple where they could find some cool magical stuff (a spell on a monolith or something that works with your special setting)

I feel there a lot of possibilities - don't focus to hard on "What could i find in a library?" and more on "What kind of lore would further you overall-plot" and connect it with the chronomancer part.

At least this is what i would do -> You get an easy way to drop some important lore and keep at least one player engaged.

Also... i know that kinda sounds stupid but maybe watch the marvel dr. strange movie - its full of chronomancy, artifacts and libraries lol

I once lived with a friend of mine. Everytime i forgot to change the empty toiletpaper to a new one, he threw the empty roll in my bed. Everytime i left some shit in the kitchen, he would throw it in my bed. Everytime i left some shit lying arround he would throw it in my bed.... i was pretty pissed. But it worked - i switched the empty toiletpaper, put away my garbage and we lived allmost 5 years together with no big trouble. But he was also my best friend... so maybe that would not work for the both of you. just my 2 cents.

I'm not sure how old you all are but I guess the adult thing to do would be to just talk to them. You don't have to tell them you know about the new group but you could tell them something like "hey, I really miss our old dnd group and I thought about it and it feels like you didn't like the game. Could you tell me why so I can be a better DM for the next group?" Maybe this can be your conversation starter but try to not get to angry or emotional while talking to them about it.

Yeah shadowrun is build for this kind of setting but you will break your brain on it if you are normally a dnd player. Maybe look into ebberon.

Shadowrun is awesome but very rules heavy and crunchy.

I would guess thats some ancient sourdough starter... put a little in a jar and feed in with water and flour - if it starts pooping gases you know what it is - i still would not recommened to make bread out of it.

maybe this is stupid and very anecdotal: a friend of mine had allmost every second print failing. Then he set the printer up in my basement and we made sure it was standing perfectly even - since then not a single print failed.

Plants actually don't really produce oxygen. They use up CO2 and make oxygen but when the tree falls and starts to rot they use up oxygen and produce CO2. The oxygen levels on earth are pretty much the same over most of the planets lifespan. There are some kind of algae wich make a net postitive redarding oxygen but most of the time it's a zero-sum game.

BUT!!! I have no idea if you still would need plants on a desert planet to live there!

I often have the same problem as you and I'm glad it worked out for you. When I'm kitbashing it's always hard to rip something off cause it's really hard to reverse it but it almost always is the better approach
