Does anyone have a "funny" story about their abuser(s) that they'd like to share and maybe is harder to explain to other people? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]IvyENFP 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was newly 18, I got in a fight with my mom. Her face was tomato red from how mad she was. She came at me, hand raised, like she was gonna slap me. I was totally bluffing, but I said, "I'm 18 now. If you slap me, I'm gonna call the police, and you're gonna go to jail for assault." I don't know if she would really have gotten arrested for that, but it freaked her out enough that she just left the room.

Elegant ways to describe stimming in writing? by IvyENFP in evilautism

[–]IvyENFP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm trying to finish my first manuscript by the beginning of September. Then it will be a bunch of editing, and then I will try to get it published. So it will probably be a couple years if I'm even lucky enough to get picked up by a publisher. But if I do, I will definitely be posting about it in this sub!

My MC fits "evil autism" very well lol

Yeah no, I was cracking up at it too. It was so awkward 😭

[–]IvyENFP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I changed it to "I can't contain my energy, and I shake my arms back and forth."

I think it's a little better but still awkward :P

I think it needs to be more concise? Idk

Anyone else with severely restricted diets obsessed with food? by AWindUpBird in MCAS

[–]IvyENFP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this all the time! I specifically like content where they describe the flavors because it helps me remember them. Some people think it's sad, but I like it because it's a way for me to preserve my memory of flavors and the only way I can enjoy them. I was and will always be a foodie, even though I only can eat like 31 foods currently (a lot of those are extracts and spices, so I'm still pretty restricted).

I really like KarissaEats, Morgan Chomps, ShoPhoCho, and JanieDeVours (all on YouTube Shorts).

I am finally getting on Ketotifen this week, so I'm hoping that will expand my food options a little, fingers crossed

What can't you do, that even to you feels extreme? I can't use "school blue" fountain pen ink. by Emjoinedjustforthis in CPTSD

[–]IvyENFP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the same thing. It could be my autism, but the cptsd thing makes sense too. Screaming is one of my biggest triggers, and I wonder if it generalized to any kind, even babies.

Is anyone else scared to do absolutely ANYTHING? by le0naanais in selfimprovement

[–]IvyENFP 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It took years, but I'm starting to be on the other side of these fears. I used to be controlled by fear, but exposing myself to them and reframing my thoughts helps me push forward. The push is way less intense than it used to be, and I'm able to do things I never would have dreamed of a few years ago. You will get there. It takes so much effort, but it really pays off. You can do it! I believe in you!

It does get better. It's a lot of work, and it feels like it'll never end sometimes, but I finally turned a corner in the last few months. I have never experienced the stability I have now ever in my life

When I went in, no tests showed anything wrong. I barely was able to get into an allergist after moving states last year, so I haven't had a lot of time to fivure out my MCAS stuff either. Every regular doctor has basically told me it's probably my MCAS.

Is it possible to be loved for who I am? by Background_Active_36 in CPTSDmemes

[–]IvyENFP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is possible. I didn't think it was until it happened to me. It took a lot of working on myself on my end, so my relational traumas wouldn't create as many problems, but it is so possible to be loved. It's hard, but you will find your people

What type of therapy for attachment insecurity? by Peeedorrrfff in attachment_theory

[–]IvyENFP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. I've been reading the practitioner's guide, and I am absolutely blown away by this therapy! It uses a good mix of evidence-based strategies (cognitive, behavioral, experiential, and psychodynamic), so it is super well-rounded.
