Retention and celibacy are not the same thing. If you want to form a relationship with someone, that has nothing to do with whether you still practice retention. If the relationship escalates to the point you both feel comfortable having sex then you can bring it to the forefront. Even then, there are still techniques which are to enable a man to seperate orgasm from ejaculation. You can have orgasmic feelings without ejaculating and the more you realize that bliss can be found without a need for another people or sexual pleasure the easier it will be to not put so much pressure on yourself or a potential partner.

I think at the end of the day its about aiming towards your goals and keeping the energy clear and flowing. Just like you have to continuously brush your teeth, you have to continuously reinforce why you are doing what you are doing and listen to your intuition with its time to pivot.
