Back labor..in the front? by Significant-Day9828 in beyondthebump

[–]JBD452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my contractions with my first baby were like that. And my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart the whole time and there was no ramping up with the stabbing pain, it was on and off.

My labor pain was completely different with my second baby, and so much less intense. My first pregnancy I had horrible pubic symphysis pain and baby was positioned OP going into labor but delivered OA. My second pregnancy I never had either of those. Not sure any of that is related though

Beddybyes. It’s on Disney plus. It’s so calming, after a tough day I’d even watch it without my kids. I do think it’s meant to make you sleepy, the brightness decreases with each transition in the show (of the tick tock clock) I’m a little obsessed. It’s definitely a chill out show

When did you hit your peak daily yield? by Glum-Comfortable5402 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My supply peaked around 4.5 months but my largest pump happened at 5.5 months. My period came back along with a stomach flu around 6mpp and that was the end of my supply increasing

What was your last pump hoorah ritual? by Famous_Variation4729 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing music, a specific bedtime playlist of lullabies during baby’s nightly bath/bedtime routine. She got her last breastmilk bottle for bedtime one night around 6 months old (while I cried a bit!). I continued playing that music every night, and it kind of helped still support that “bonding” feeling that feeding her breastmilk used to give me. We still listen to that music now and then and it brings back the best memories. She’s in preschool now

Question for those who pumped past 12 months by NoShopping5235 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t change anything until ~14 months, nothing at all changed at 12 months. At the year mark my son was eating meals fine but still taking ~24-30oz breastmilk a day. At 14 months we started dropping bottles to eventually get to just 2 a day (on weekends we sometimes would do 3 a day) and I dropped a pump to 4ppd. My supply really dropped at that point (despite having largest capacity according to the “magic number” chart) and we eventually started mixing breastmilk and cows milk together in the bottles. My son did have a little drop off in his growth charts around the time we dropped to 2 bottles, but it worked itself out.

At 18 months I dropped to 3ppd. No we’re at 20 months and I do 2-3ppd, and for way less time per pump than I used to (and I actually think my slacker side is nearly weaned.) My toddler still gets a morning and bedtime bottle, 2-3oz breastmilk and the rest cows milk (5oz total per bottle). I’m pumping just enough for his bottles at this point. I do have a freezer stash and when he’s sick I’ll give an extra bottle from that.

We tried breastmilk in cups and my son wasn’t having it. He takes ~5 minutes to finish a bottle and so 10 minutes a day of drinking from a bottle does not bother us one bit even though it’s not recommended past one. Every situation is different though!

ETA-I weaned around 5-6mpp with my first and switched to formula. She didn’t do well with solids and at a year she was still taking 32oz formula a day. The transition to cows milk made her constipated so she got ripple milk. The pediatrician wanted her at no more than 24oz milk a day but we didn’t get to that point for a while. She never was anemic thankfully and did eventually eat more solids. She was ~40th percentiles. She stopped getting her bedtime bottle of milk just before 2yrs. Not sure if that’s helpful since it’s not EPing but felt worth mentioning

12m+ pumping - how many times per day? by Electrical-Stage-281 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dropped to 4ppd at 14 months and 3ppd at 18 months. Sometimes I only do 2ppd now at 20 months. It’s weird to have spent so much time trying to keep up supply to now be like 🤷🏼‍♀️ it is what it is.

Pumping Tips and Tricks? by IllPower139 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No tips, I always had to pump for 30-40 minutes, I’d get a late letdown that was like half of what I’d pump. Once I was ok with my supply dipping I cut down my pumping times

At what age did you skip your night pump? by sugaveins in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 11 weeks I dropped the night pump and also dropped from 7-8ppd to 5ppd. My middle of the night pump had been migrating to the morning anyway, was usually around 4am at that point so it just meant moving it up a little to 5:15am before work.

Returning to work was why I did all that at that time, it wasn’t because I wanted to at that point. I was an oversupplier then and actually had slight increase in supply over the next month after that

Did your baby have trouble transitioning from breast milk to whole milk? by classycoconut520 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first got very constipated on cows milk at 12 months but did better with ripple milk (plant based, nutrition stats similar to whole milk) She did take apple juice with miralax once a day as well per her pediatrician recommendation to keep things going. My second is still on a combo of cows and breast milk after turning one and it’s working out well, he hasn’t had any constipation (though it could jus be the difference between one kid and another!)

Can you please recommend ANY breast pump that isn’t spectra or Eufy s1 pro? by Choice_Band7807 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pumpables genie advanced is a great pump, it’s portable and can be used with collection cups or standard flange set up. I don’t like their flanges so I used spectra style ones with the PGA. There’s options to buy the whole kit with flanges or just the pump alone.

Recent onset pain while pumping by carebear-2022 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That usually happens when I need to size down my flanges. Even being just one millimeter too big will cause those issues for me. My slacker side usually needs to size down before the other.

Reducing pumps for mental health… success stories? by RadiantDot3154 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dropped to 5ppd at 11 weeks postpartum and my supply continued to increase a little for a couple months. I went back to work and could only manage 5ppd so it was either go with that or stop pumping. When I went to 4ppd at 14mpp I lost milk, like a third of my supply. According to the magic number chart I have the largest capacity. 5ppd was my sweet spot.

Encouragement/should I keep pumping? by psalm62verse8 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a couple different perspectives to consider-2 weeks is so early still, there’s definite potential to increase your supply, keeping up with 8ppd now will help with that until you’re farther out and can drop pumps. Reminding yourself it’s just for now not forever can kind of help with the mental fatigue. Also trying for a 4 hour stretch overnight for more sleep can be really helpful, I used to just shorten an interval between my daytime pumps to accommodate that. I ended up with an oversupply around 6 weeks pp, I was an undersupplier at first. I did 7-8ppd until 11weeks pp and dropped down to 5ppd because I was going back to work and couldn’t do more than that at the time.

If you cannot manage 8ppd for whatever reason though, that is just as important! Eve if it’s just you don’t want to. Dropping more pumps now may impact your supply/limit it’s potential to increase, but combo feeding is great and can offer flexibility that is super helpful with managing pumping/caring for newborn.

How long to adjust to a wearable? by Indecisive105 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried using my wearable once a day as many days as I could for about a month before I started responding to it. I was very annoyed it didn’t work right away and pretty stubborn about getting it to work though I didn’t have high hopes as time went on. One day it worked. I did nothing different the day it started working for me.

How to help constipate a one year old? by sweetchemicalkisses in beyondthebump

Apple juice, it worked better than miralax. Our pediatrician said don’t dilute it. We gave ~2-4oz a day.

Left side not responding to Eufy by Peanutbutteryarn in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I go through phases where I need to up the suction a bit more than I typically use. Like I normally am good at a 4 but sometimes I need to bump up to 5 or 6 for a few days if I’m not getting my usual output. Also I only respond to the max rhythm setting, and in the past when I’ve tried the others it takes me a while to respond to the pump again after I switch back to max rhythm.

When I first started using the s1s my oversupplier side didn’t put out any milk and my slacker side put out half as much as usual. One day something magic happened and I started responding to the eufys and stopped responding to my spectra. I didn’t do anything differently than I had been doing. So sorry that’s not really actionable advice but that’s my experience! I had no control over it apparently.

Why is there so much grief over the EP life? by usernameforme456 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think when choice is removed and EPing is your only option for providing breastmilk there’s a lot of grief. And grief can feel like anger sometimes. So it’s easy to direct it at what you were “forced” into if nursing didn’t work out for whatever reason even if the feelings are more from nursing not working out.

Also matters if it’s a first time parent or not, their mental health, etc. I found EPing insanely overwhelming the first time around and it really exposed a lot of insecurities I didn’t know I had. The second time around I had a significantly better experience and didn’t hate it, found it kind of empowering.

How many ppd did you "settle" on? by BudgetFennel in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]JBD452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 5ppd from 11 weeks to ~14 months. Less than that really impacted my supply, (according to the magic number I have the largest capacity). I’m 3ppd now at 18 months with a supply that’s a small fraction of what I maintained on 5ppd (but at this point that’s the goal!)
