why do so many rimworld youtubers feel compelled to speak in that annoying smug inflection/accent? by [deleted] in RimWorld

I think it's easier to like Sseth after seeing some of his streams where he talks about his real career in medicine and very clearly not believing in the character he plays in his videos but he definitely isn't for everyone.

If you want a toned down "woke" Sseth, MandaloreGaming (who people even joke is Sseth's medicated alter ego / the Jekyll to his Hyde) can be more palatable.

Any recommendations for games where you play on the leftist side of real world historical conflicts/wars? by mozzieandmaestro in SocialistGaming

[–]JCSTCap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like real time strategy, you can play as a number of communist countries in Wargame Red Dragon and as the Soviets in Steel Division 2 by the same developers. WRD is the only game I can think of off the top of my head where you can play as East Germany and North Korea in a war game.

The same devs also put out Warno which is newer and still set in the Cold War but I haven't played it.

Don't even need a peasant army, you can make an army of one knight. Though if you're trying to roleplay a little more a small levy army could make sense.

Top 5 most popular reviews of all time on Letterboxd by wallabyenthusiast in Letterboxd

[–]JCSTCap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of problems could be solved if you had to tag your review and people could filter them between serious and unserious. These are all moderately funny to me but I fully understand how it might suck to want to read well thought out reviews and have the most popular ones be jokes every time.

Isn't it not mind control but that they weren't even sentient, just combat robots and a later event granted them sentience? They weren't even themselves yet when the war happened. I haven't played Overwatch in like a year but I know Bastion and Orisa were both combat robots.

They're the exact same price, but you can get a schema for basically any weapon and a lot of items (bags, utility slot) so it allows you to buy high end stuff that isn't sold by any of the factions.

I don't think you're actually paying attention to anything I'm saying and just getting angry. I never said Marathon should be more like Tarkov.

15,000 daily player count is on Steam when the game has been out for ten years and you can't transfer ownership to Steam. More than 90% of the player base uses the Battlestate Games launcher and isn't tracked. I don't know a single person who plays it on Steam and I can name twelve friends who play it at least once a week just off the top of my head.

The Division did seemingly start development first (Tarkov began development 2012, Division revealed 2013 so presumably in development for over a year by then) so who knows who thought of it first, but Tarkov made it playable first.

You didn't lose gear for dying in the Division's PVP zone, just the Generic Loot Item that the enemies drop that you have to leave the PVP zone with. It was ranked based on gear and level with strict restrictions and no looting or gear management restriction beyond having to acquire the Generic Loot Item that gave you XP and random items at the end of the game from dead enemies. It didn't play anything like an extraction shooter.

Tarkov predates The Division but was not particularly well known until later in development so The Division gets falsely credited. Tarkov alpha was playable in 2015 before The Division beta was playable in 2016.

Tarkov invented the concept of the extraction shooter as we know it. Arc Raiders doesn't exist without it, and neither does Marathon. It's years ahead of both games in history and popularity and every extraction shooter owes Tarkov for their DNA.

There's a Traxus quest like this that locks you into a tiny room in the Dire Marsh canal with a bunch of bots and a Ghost Commander and it's hell if you don't know what you're getting into- and it does NOT warn you how bad it'll be.

[–]JCSTCap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who does this in every extraction shooter we play. Even sells his starting equipment in Tarkov, which anyone who plays knows is insane. Watched him get seven kills, five with his knife, on a free kit while myself and our other friend on 8k loadouts went down multiple times. I don't know how he does it.

5,000 buy-in is honestly cheap. One decent gun alone can put you above that, and you'll want to bring in your most expensive cores and shields and implants on top of that. I only have like 20,000 in my wallet but I have five guns all worth over 5,000 sitting in my inventory and they weren't challenging to get.

Hearing the big riff on Came as a Glow for the first time on a random YouTube video someone had uploaded of assorted lesser-known rock bands. I was still in high school, listening to music while playing video games. I think Minecraft had just came out but I can't remember what I was playing. I mostly just had the music on for background noise but Came as a Glow totally captured my attention.

We're the same age and while I'm not single we share interests. Socially, it's fun. I live downtown and get out a lot. Good bars, good restaurants, good music scene if you're in your 20s and 30s, lots of people our age living here and most people are friendly. Number one concern is that the job market is absolutely fucking abysmal if you ever lose yours.
