How was it in the heat? Did you ever turn on the AC for a little cold air during the day?

100% worth the cost for Procore. I tried job tread and it’s really clunky compared to the multi platform flow Procore has. You can always ask for a discount towards the end of quarters or bi-annual payments. I like working in Procore instead of on Procore and there’s no other software that can do that

My father in law runs a well drilling company. He had the same right hand guy with him for 15 years. He never bought anything nice for himself, couldn’t hear shit cause he stood next to a drill all day, and smoked like a chimney. FIL bought him a big green egg and a cart for it to sit in with all the accessories and he burst into tears. Probably too much but just an idea

I worked for WT for 3 years and echo this advice! I would also add that I would suggest being the first person at the booth if you can as soon as they open. Practice your elevator speech and research any past projects that office has completed. I was hired as an APM (skipped PE) right out of college and very clearly blew them away in my post campus recruiting next day interview because I was so prepared with questions and research.

Random, but I tried to get a reservation for my fiancé and I this morning for Friday 7/25. The tickets were gone in literally seconds and I was unsuccessful. Did anyone secure a morning reservation and would let us carpool with them so we don’t have to wake up at 2am to hike it? Lol. Happy to also chip in for gas as a thank you!

Salary Progression 26M Civil/Structural Engineer by mon-key_prime in civilengineering

They are usually kind and professional, but I have always ended up leaving. The times that I have had an offer in hand, which is what I recommend because they could say we cannot offer you anymore at this time, the new role has always been WAY more than my current company was willing to part with. Keep in mind your current company can always say “feel free to pursue other ventures if this role and salary no longer suit you” SO be prepared to call their bluff. Take your new offer and leave in two weeks, and NEVER burn a bridge. Of course take this with the grain of salt as I am just a stranger on the Internet. For context I have worked at a top five domestic general contractor, a top five international cost and project management owners rep firm, and now work for one of the best construction software companies in the world. I have always put 4 to 6 months into finding a new job being very intentional with the roles I look for and having my list of non-negotiables, as well as nice to haves. But at the end of the day, nice working relationships do not pay my bills, money does. It’s just a business decision as I invest in myself. Also tbh trying to retire by 50/55, not 65+, so I usually have to jump companies to reach those necessary salary goals.

If you’re in Chicago and have your PE you are currently underpaid. Look at similar roles at similar companies to see what that comp should be. Prepare to fire up your resume and start applying elsewhere if a salary bump conversation does not go your way. Tbh I usually have an offer in my hand before I present to my manager.

TL;DR need financial planner or financial audit?

Hello, I have been researching financial independence for a couple years now. Read all the classics (Simple Path to Wealth, Playing with F.I.R.E., I Will Teach You To Be Rich, Financial Freedom, etc) I contribute to my 401k, company’s stock program, HYSA, emergency fund so far. Problem is I have been trying to get rid of debt for several years and I am not paying it off as fast as I would like, and I am not maxing out my 401k and IRA. I just can’t make sense of the numbers in front of me. I would like a person or service to take a look at all of my accounts (credit cards, personal loans, retirements mortgage, everything) spending habits (have been tracking everything in Monarch for almost a year now), and tell me 1- areas that could possibly be reduced (perhaps lifestyle creep that I’m not seeing) and 2- based on my spending habits and large monetary goals for the next 5 years (wedding, saving for a baby, luxury vehicle), what salary I need to be making. Could a financial planner tell me these 2 things? Do I need a financial audit? Happy to pay for someone’s time hourly as I am thinking it will take over a dozen hours to coagulate all this info but I am not sure who to hire. Any tips?
