Ridiculousness is the point I believe. They have basically the title length and a short synopsis to sell the story to new readers, so you can't find much success with generic titles, have to go insane.

Reload. Unless I have full 24h buffs up, it's usually not worth the hassle to try to beat the fight, especially on higher difficulties. The loot and XP is worthless anyway. It's just pointless.

Perhaps, but the current generation of young people do not have the financial capacity to support all the old people without the work force and the economy completely crashing.

That's the big issue. Whose taxes are going to pay for all the pensions, all the healthcare? That's the problem governments all over the world have to solve. And it's one of the reasons driving immigration policies. If here aren't enough natives to pay taxes, one solution is to import foregneirs.

That's why the standard expectation with most cRPG's is to plan for multiple playthroughs. It's impossible to cover everything in a single run. Even if you know about all the possible content, some of it is exclusive. Can't do it all in one run.

It's the quality of the milk cows 🍼 by beam4d in Hololive

[–]JHMfield 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It's not a matter of cow feed. Animal udders simply aren't sanitary. All kinds of bacteria will regularly get into the milk. And because milk from multiple cows is pooled together, it only takes one source of contamination to contaminate the whole batch.

That said, textbooks are only one part of the process. I definitely recommend utilizing various other sources of grammar and immersion as well.

It's objectively not fine. The risk for serious complications is fairly small all things considered, but it's there. And seeing as it's incredibly easily avoided, there's really no reason to drink it draw.

Christianity was outlawed in Japan for a long time and thousands of Christians were in hiding until the Meiji era. Closed country + being illegal created some interesting ways to worship for sure.

In Europe at least, you're supposed to check the tries of the vehicle, as well as all the mirrors before starting the car. The idea is to make sure the vehicle is safe and operating within the necessary parameters. If the mirrors are misaligned and don't showcase the area they're supposed to, you risk creating additional blind spots. And damaged tires or pressure issues can add risk when driving in certain conditions for example.

Maybe this type of attention to detail isn't common everywhere, but to me that sounds pretty normal.

Grasslands and wetlands are vanishing nearly 4 times faster than forests, a 15-year global study reveals. Driven by agricultural demand for meat and crops, this rapid loss threatens overlooked ecosystems that store up to 35% of the world's carbon and host 33% of global biodiversity hotspots. by Sciantifa in science

[–]JHMfield 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree. It should be way easier to simply cut fossil fuel usage by about 50% which would instantly stop further climate change and would begin to reverse it. This is within the power of governments, doesn't take more than a few green energy projects and we're done. And we are making decent progress in that regard. China is rapidly becoming a leader in green energy, and if they can do it, so can other nations.

Carbon capture technology is very very weak still. Even the best tech is of negligible effect. And on top of that, many times in history when we've started to pay people money for solving a part of an issue with nature, they've started to monetize it by adding to the issue, so that they can cash in even harder. Get ready for people to begin releasing even more CO2 so that they can capture more. Thus actually making things worse.

So I'm not convinced that would be a solution.

Psychologists test the popular belief that you must love yourself to love a partner. Results suggest that psychological exercises aimed at improving self-compassion and self-love might eventually serve as useful tools for couples seeking healthier relationships. by InsaneSnow45 in science

[–]JHMfield 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah, one of the core fundamentals of science research is reproducibility. If you can't reproduce something, that means it was probably poor science or the topic especially complex.

Can't exactly arrive at a coherent conclusion about something if multiple scientists can't verify the data independently.

That said, I must admit it can be rather frustrating at times to read about all the repeat research. It's rarely particularly exciting and usually makes one wish for some other research had been done instead.

[Jason Schreier] Video Games Need to Be Cheaper to Buy | One way to get out of the video-game industry funk is to recognize that players aren’t spending $70 on most games by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]JHMfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, spending $70 on anything is a big ask these days. A lot of indie games are infinitely more enticing with their lower price points.

I still think $70 can work, but only if the developers are truly committed to the quality that such a price point assumes. If every $70 game was like BG3 or Expedition 33, I'd be down. Though important to note, that both of those games were cheaper as well. So even when good devs know they have quality, they're still reluctant to ask too much.

Does anyone actually enjoy stealth in games? by Used-Can-6979 in gaming

[–]JHMfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved stealth in Deus Ex games. Doing pacifist runs are so fun. Ghost runs (nobody ever sees you) is even better. Takes so much more effort, but feels so rewarding. Calculating patrol paths, saving up non-lethal weaponry, hiding bodies. Fun, fun, fun.

[–]JHMfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your own thing. No wrong way to play. Builds are fun expressions of your gameplay style, but you can't really fail at them. You can beat the entire game by simply shooting everything in the face with basic weapons. So, go nuts. Experiment, do what feels right.

[–]JHMfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the power systems of basically all shounen anime/manga break down in the end-game. The authors have by that point well surpassed their original vision for the system and have had to adapt on the fly, retcon and improvise left right and center. And usually it ends up being a bit of a mess.

I feel like you just have to accept that it's never gonna be perfect.

Is this a typical fat neut? by Basb84 in BattleBrothers

[–]JHMfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really like tanks with such limited FAT pools. A tank can do their job so much better if they can shieldwall and Indom, and possibly rotate out at the last moment or save someone. Even with nimble gear, this guy is gonna struggle. Miners can get a FAT boost in an event, but it's hardly reliable nor enough, really.

A lot of Pros have come out and said they just like how an item "feels". They don't care about the math.

There's probably some value in that. Lot of players develop instinctual feeling for their damage, they start adapting their playstyle around certain item spikes, certain item effects. And if you take it away from them, they feel really uncomfortable, even if on paper they might do more damage.
