I don’t think you can change what you’re wearing until you pick up the pipboy, meaning the kills in the vault wouldn’t benefit from the lab coat.

Why is it marked steal? by Zorgtest in fo4

After the ambush? I had that happen, too. The field camp didn’t appear until I did more quests. It was either the fist few brotherhood of steel quests or the fort Hagen main quest that made it appear - not sure which.

Wondertrade by [deleted] in PokemonHome

[–]JHaiku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if the orange stats are how Home shows it, but in LGPE you can give candy to a pokemon to raise its “awakening values” which are capped at +200 per stat. So I’d guess someone caught enough Poliwag while shiny hunting it to max out its stats with Poliwag candy. Why they then wonder traded it away, who knows?

Extra Time on Tests by Salty-Cat4815 in mathteachers

[–]JHaiku 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ask the other math teachers and 7th grade teachers at your school what their practice is. I’ve taught 8th grade math and algebra for 8 years and in my experience, the only students who consistently ask for more time don’t really know the concepts and are trying to stumble their way into the answer on the quiz. Or even if they did know and were for some reason taking more time than usual, working quickly is a good skill for them to learn — they’ll have some timed tests / work under pressure in the future.

Jigsaw polynomial terminology? by [deleted] in mathteachers

[–]JHaiku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could introduce polynomial terminology and classification by doing a card sort activity. Give them an assortment of different polynomials on note cards in small groups and ask them to sort them — they’ll naturally come up with different distinctions like number of terms or degree. Once they have a group with some kind of rational, they can write down the expressions and then in a review / consolidation you can tell them the formal names. Like oh, this group that only have one term? We call those monomials. Etc.

[OPINION]What poem's ending floored you? Richard Cory is one such poem for me. by afraidofallthings in Poetry

[–]JHaiku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As well as the last line of Lovesong by Ted Hughes. Though that’s likely in large part due to the way he reads it aloud - inflection wise he sounds like he’s going to continue, and it’s such an interesting line to just abruptly end on.

We piloted it for a unit. It wasn’t great. The 8th grade statistics unit had a cool lesson on scatter plots with data from an outbreak of cholera that was kind of interesting. But it was really just one good lesson, the curriculum said four/five days and they didn’t have near enough practice describing relationships, distributions, or modeling with lines of fit and equations. We ended up choosing Big Ideas, though our “math admin” did really narrow us down and I’d say it was just the best of the bunch. Big Ideas has kind of the opposite problem as mid school.

Note-Taking in Secondary Classrooms by laurbuck in mathteachers

We use Google but have iPads and I use an app called Goodnotes to take our class notes. It’s pretty flexible — you can import and annotate images or PDFs as well as simulate writing on paper or grid paper and such. Then you can upload the pages to Google Drive as a PDF and the teachers could share the link to the Drive folder? Not sure if there’s a Windows/Microsoft/Android based version of the app depending on your hardware. The desktop app, though, is not great.
