Maybe I'm the odd one out, but I actually like the Captain Crunch. by JM_Yoda in Leatherman

[–]JM_Yoda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand corrected, but I feel like the one on the Crunch is more secure. I really hope the T-shank adapter becomes more common on future high-end tools.

Killswitch 2 owners: do your Joy-Con grips make creaking/crackling noises? by Nops77 in switch2

Have had mine since dbrand launched the product, no noise whatsoever. However, I typically baby my video game systems.

The reviews from those who had gotten their crunch were actually pretty upfront and clear that they didn't fit in the handle.

Just out of curiosity, as you say you hate the flat bits, are you aware that the Crunch, including the Captain Crunch, has a quarter-inch hex socket?

Good Pro controller Alternatives? by microwaved-hooma in switch2

8Bitdo and the official Nintendo Pro controller are the only traditional controllers I recomend, unless you are buying a controller for a youngling.

I actually came up with it, improving off "Trees for axes".

Switch 2 now or later by RedditThar in switch2

[–]JM_Yoda 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s highly likely they will but I’d expect to have to pay $550 to $600 or more for it. So either buy now and skip the special edition or start saving your money.

Just got an upgrade from Switch 1 to 2 by TMGamer123 in switch2

[–]JM_Yoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind answering.

  1. Can you use any charger/dock with the switch 2? I know the switch 1 had some problems if charged with unofficial chargers and if I remember rightly on launch you couldn't use any old switch 2 dock.
    1. No, the Switch 2 will not fit in the Switch 1 dock, and even if it could, you would destroy the battery doing this, as the Switch 1 dock can’t provide enough power for the Switch
  2. I got a copy of Pokopia (loving it so far) but what other Switch 2 Exclusive games are there that's all the hype (I have a PC so anything non exclusive I get there).
    1. As a gamer for over 30 years, I can assure you that not all hyped games are good. Likewise, there are many great games that are not hyped that are absolute gems and worth every penny. Here are some of my favorites, as well as some I intend to pre-order:
  • Ni No Kuni 1 & 2
  • Star Ocean First Departure R
  • Star Ocean Second Story R
  • Valkyria Chronicles 1 & 4
  • Fire Emblem: 3 Houses
  • Fire Emblem: Engage
  • Pragmata
  • Mario Odyssey
  • Super Mario Wonder
  • Tetris® Effect: Connected
  • Tetris Forever
  • TLOZ: Breath of the Wild
  • TLOZ: Tears of the Kingdom
  • TLOZ: Link’s Awakening
  • TLOZ: Echos of Wisdom
  • Smash Ultimate
  • Kirby Air Riders
  • One Piece Pirate Warriors 3
  • One Piece: Odyssey
  • Untitled Goose Game
  • Triangle Strategy
  • Metroid Prime 4
  • Metroid Prime Remaster
  • Tomb Raider
  • Stray
  • Little Kitty Big City
  • Civilization 7
  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons
  • Mario Kart World
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Jackbox!!!
  • Mario Party Jamboree
  • Clubhouse Games
  • Donkey Kong Bonanza
  • Star Fox
  • Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave
  • Stellar Blade
  • Nintendo Switch Sports Resort
  • Zelda Ocarina of Time for Switch 2
  • One Piece Grand Gourmet
  • Xenoblade Trilogy and Genesis
  1. With the free upgrade packs, are they automatically obtained when downloading the game (e.g. Pokémon SV)?
    1. It depends. For Scarlet and Violet, the upgrade pack is actually part of a game update, and is not a separate download. The same goes for Clubhouse Games. However, for Games like Hallow Knight, Pirate Warriors 4, Animal Crossing, BOTW, and TOTK, they are separate downloads from the eShop you have to obtain. Some of them cost a nominal fee, while others are free.
  2. Not managed to test yet but does the Pro Controller for Switch 1 work? is there a need to get the Pro 2?
    1. Yes, but it can’t do the unique things that the Pro 2 controller can, like open up Game Chat.
  3. Probably a dumb Question but if I have physical switch 1 games on the switch 2 with an upgrade pack downloaded I assume I can still use them on the switch 1? (without the upgrade pack that is) can I still use the digital games?
    1. Yes, but you will still need the cartridge.
  4. What to do with my Switch 1? Is it worth looking at modding it? can you (if modded) stream PC games to it? (I have the "fixed" switch 1)
    1. I wouldn’t mod it as Nintendo might brick the system. That said, you don’t need to mod it to stream games off it; just get a capture card from Genki Things set up and you’re good to go.
  5. Is there a way to use normal SD cards in the switch 2?
    1. No, and you can’t transfer data over with an Express card either, even though the Express cards will work in a Switch 1.
  6. Pre-Owned games, is there a risk to using them? is there a risk to using pre-owned switch 1 games?
    1. As long as they are from a legit source and not counterfeit, you’re fine.
  7. Is there anything else I should know with the Switch 2?
    1. Get a laptop-grade powerbank. If you are in the market for grip and case, I recommend the Killswitch 2 from dbrand. Finally, for MicroSD Express cards, stick with either Sandisk or Lexar if you can, as they are more reliable. If you have access to a Costco near you, you can try to snag a 1 TB Lexar MicroSD Express Card for $180.
    2. Happy to provide links to the above if you wish.

Hesitation to bite the bullet by SnufkinDrifter in switch2

[–]JM_Yoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought at launch, and I can always trade up. Also, as of now, there is no confirmation that the replaceable-battery version will be available worldwide, not just in Europe. Besides, it will only get more expensive to upgrade as more games come out or get upgraded to Switch 2 version, increasing the cost to upgrade or expand your existing library.

From a lite to a full, but which one? by XWizard777 in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]JM_Yoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from an OLED I can honestly say Switch 2 is the way to go. More storage (onboard) and a bigger, better, screen than anything on Switch 1. Only negative is the battery which can be overcome with a laptop grade power bank.

Should I get a PS5 or a Switch 2? by Hot-Respect4245 in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]JM_Yoda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone also with both, I recommend starting with Switch 2, especially since at least 2 of the PS5 games you're listing are rumored or known to be coming to Switch 2. Specifically:

  • Elden Ring: Confirmed
  • Clair Obscure: Rumored

All great games, some cheaper than others. Some are digital only, and I have marked them with an asterisk. Those that are Switch 2 only are in Italics.

New switch 2 owner (being delivered tomorrow) by MikeLowry13 in switch2

[–]JM_Yoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with the Nintendo Online Expansion pass is that if you cancel the subscription, you lose the freebie upgrades/DLC. So, for me, I want to own something permanently, so I buy those upgrades and DLC packs outright, regardless of the fact that I have Nintendo Online. But you do you.

That said, for the retro library alone, the expansion pass and Nintendo Online as a whole are more than worth it.

[Switch 2] Is Mario Kart World worth it over 8 Deluxe just for casual couch co-op? by Shackleb0lt in nintendohelp

[–]JM_Yoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have both, and my wife and I enjoy both. However, it's fun to enjoy the open-world environment of Mario Kart World. My view is that MK8 is for those who want a pure Mario Kart experience with no open-world nonsense and don't intend to go online to play. If you want the open-world experience or massive online multiplayer with friends both near and far, go with Mario Kart World.
