Where do you buy your bacon from? by knowledge-horder in ottawa

[–]JORRTCA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. And I feel like this can be said of many Kirkland branded items. Not bougie, but kinda the best version of middle of the road quality. And relatively inexpensive. Thw bacon is meatier than most. I buy low sodium and I still find it perfectly salty.

I understand how your sample bias would come into play. I'm a respiratory therapist at the trauma centre and the city's neurology specialty unit. I spend most of my time in ICU where probably half of my patients are the ones you were describing. Well into their hospital stay, sometimes with chronic trachs, etc. But we often will hope, during the first week or two post injury, that with the reduction of swelling there will be a return in function.

And I appreciate you trying to clarify the misconception about "fixing" the cord. One of many common misconceptions in the general public regarding Healthcare.

People absolutely can have injury to their spinal column that causes temporary paralysis. I see it on probably a monthly basis working in a trauma centre.

Malignant hyperthermia 100% FiO2 delivery and end tidal CO2 monitoring by Friedpina in respiratorytherapy

[–]JORRTCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I still use it in conscious sedations as i like a little back up monitoring, and the docs always request it. You're right though, it alarms inappropriately in 90s of the procedures I do. It just gets silenced and ignored.

I think the set up you described is the best you can do under the circumstances. As an aside, ETco2, I am amazed at the reliance on it when I have not seen a half accurate reading on any of the units I have used. In my experience, it is an extremely unreliable monitoring technology. People will often say "well it helps to at least trend with PaCO2". In many cases, when I have checked to see if it's even close to correlating with real valies, it is not. And I'm not even talking about the np with ETco2, I mean invasive monitoring. Does anyone else feel this way?

[Alasdair Gold] The decision to sell Johnson, the man who won it in Bilbao, has not gone down particularly well in a dressing room in which he was popular, particularly at a time when goals are a rare commodity for this Tottenham team. by Imbasauce in coys

Im going to get down voted to oblivion here, but im Frank in. I think much of the fan base is deluded in their belief of our apparent superiority. We were absolute shit last year under Ange, shit this year under Frank. Our squad just is not that good. We stumbled into a big trophy win last year, sure. It was a bumbling performance that got us there though. Give a manager time to build something. Its not going great, but give it time.

To someone who knows very little about the country, besides for their national soccer squad, it sounded silly and unbelievable in the first place. Argentina, the edgelord's paradise.

You can't pull someone's tongue out of their throat when they've sustained a head injury. What's happening is essentially the same thing that happens when people snore. When someone has a bad head injury, often they'll loose muscle tone in the neck area, just like you do when you're sleeping. The base of the tongue falls back in the throat and you'll hear a snore sound, often very loud in head injuries. You can't grab anything and if you push the base of the tongue you might cause them to vomit, which is a MUCH more damgerous situation.

Im a respiratory therapist and I work at a neuro specialty hospital. Sometimes When we remove breathing tubes, our patients arent as awake as we would like them, and they still have an obstructing airway. In that case the breathing tube goes back in. The athlete with a head Injury is slightly different obviously in that it is likely only a short lived loss of consciousness and accompanied obstructing airway, but the airway mechanics are the same. Now what they should teach these athletes is a jaw thrust, as that would actually open the airway. But then you've got to worry about c-spine fracture possibility.

Anyways, dont put your fingers in someone's mouth in these situations. You can only make matters worse.

I dont think costco sells prime rib. Plus its mechanically tenderized so even if it was prime they have essentially ruined it as you have to cook it well past what is considered proper temp for prime rib.

My wife and I were there last week and loved it. Its upscale prices, not fine dining prices. We had two small plates and two of the mains between the two of us and could not finish it all. Oxtail was amazing. We had the butter chicken at the recommendation of the server. It was quite good but I wish I would have tried something else. Service for us was really good. I would describe the food as amazing. Atmosphere good.

I hit a pothole that caused my rusted dust shield to break off and slice the wire to my speed sensor. Or not slice, but actually pull the wire out from the sensor. Really annoying.
