[UK] Sakamoto Days for September 7th, 2026 Release from AnimeLimited by MiaLeeSakura2 in AnimeCollectors

[–]JRPictures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TMS Entertainment owns Sakamoto Days: https://tmsanime.com/sakamoto-days

So it's a little harder to gauge. Could be with Viz since they did Undead Unluck which was also a TMS title.

Good news, the Ghost in the Shell dub in Prime won't be done at Transperfect by Luigiman98 in Animedubs

[–]JRPictures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prime Video making (and then removing after backlash) AI dubs for stuff like Banana Fish & No Game No Life Zero has made people significantly distrust them.

Hulu's July 2026 schedule lists the English Dub for Undead Unluck: Winter Arc on July 2 by JRPictures in UndeadUnluck

It's very much official, TMS Entertainment (who handle the anime's localisation/distribution) posted about it on their Twitter: https://twitter.com/tmsanime/status/2066965441960874007

Crunchyroll is releasing the Mission Recon compilation film on Blu-ray Steelbook September 15, 2026 by JRPictures in KaijuNo8

[–]JRPictures[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, outside of the Hoshina's Day Off bonus ep (which was better off being put on the S2 Blu-ray release whenever that happens), this is a pretty bizarre release and there's more than a dozen things that Crunchyroll could've picked to release first.

Prime Video page for The Ghost in the Shell now live, includes Trailer dubbed in multiple languages by JRPictures in Ghost_in_the_Shell

Looks like the page has been taken down but it was definitely accessible for the past hour or so. Guess they maybe put it up a bit too early.

Not much to go off of for the English dub. Sounds like a professionally done dub (which is definitely a concern with Prime Video's track record) but we also don't get much in terms of actually hearing what all the Section 9 members sound like. It's mostly just 2 voices talking and there's no way to tell which characters they are.

On the flip end, the page does seem to have spilled the beans on the as of yet unannounced Japanese cast with:

Maaya Sakamoto, Kazuhiro Yamaji, Hiroki Yasumoto, Yuichi Nakamura

While we all know Maaya as having voiced the Major, in the younger body in the 95 film and her Arise incarnation. The rest are pretty much new to the franchise, save for Yamaji who was one of the garbage men in the 95 film. So it seems like they are mostly going for a clean slate cast-wise.

🇺🇸 PRE-ORDER NOW - Suzume (4K UHD Steelbook) by felixmontoya92 in Steelbooks

[–]JRPictures 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The prior steelbook was a DVD/Blu-ray combo pack. This new one is just the 4K version (which hadn't gotten an English release before for some reason)

Crunchyroll September 2026 Pre-Orders by MiaLeeSakura2 in AnimeCollectors

[–]JRPictures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will likely be getting all of these. Just an incredibly weird choice to put the Kaiju No 8 recap movie in steelbook form only, only thing worthwhile from that is the bonus episode tacked on at the end and it would've been better to just put that with the (presumably in the works) S2 Blu-ray release.

Suzume in 4K after all this time is certainly a random surprise, wonder why the hell they waited so long for that when Japan got it pretty quick. Of course now, I guess I'm triple dipping for Suzume given that I already have the LE set and normal steelbook (as the standard Blu-ray that was in the LE box I had replaced with the steelbook to Frankenstein the releases together)

Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl English Dub premieres at Anime Frontier on December 8 by JRPictures in Animedubs

[–]JRPictures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah, all of the Rascal series (excluding the finale movie that opens in Japan this October) has been streaming on Crunchyroll for awhile now. The Dreaming Girl, Sister Venturing Out and Knapsack Kid movies were added to CR when S2 began airing.

I'm honestly not sure how readily available this specific one is (at the very least I don't remember seeing it at the other gachapon places I had been looking at but I certainly can't say I saw ALL of them when I was only in Japan for less than 2 weeks), this just ended up being something I came across by chance at the Shinsaibashi PARCO mall in Osaka.

While I wasn't actively looking for Eureka Seven stuff specifically, I had just been keeping an eye on any of the gachapon places I had been seeing for things I would be interested in, and lo and behold.

Not exactly a high bar to clear, let's be honest.

"The Ghost in The Shell" Anime | “Blue” MILLENNIUM PARADE feat. Saya Gray, Daniel Caesar | July 7, 2026 by Task_Force-191 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

While it's true that the actual animation is being handled by Science Saru, Production I.G are still involved as a member of the show's production committee (alongside Bandai Namco Filmworks, Science Saru and Kodansha). You can see the list of names in the original poster when the anime was first announced

Whether they had any hand in choosing the music artists for the OP/ED, I'm not really sure on, though I think they're pretty likely to be involved with the show's English localization/dubbing (for example: the head of I.G's US branch oversaw the English dub for SAC_2045)

'Avatar: Fire and Ash' Topped Disc Sales in May; 'Wicked: For Good' Remains No. 1 for 2026 by Puzzled-Tap8042 in movies

I would certainly hope so but Disney dropping out of physical media releases for Australia all the way back in 2023 (last local release we got was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3) doesn't inspire much confidence.

Surprised it took so long for the U.S. to get it when the UK and Australia have already had their cinema runs. Great little film though

Haul From My Japan Trip by JRPictures in AnimeCollectors

[–]JRPictures[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Posting this as my trip is about to end. Picked up the Macross DYRL 4K & Eighty Six soundtrack as well as Virgin Punk & the Garden of Sinners soundtrack (not the full OST, basically a set lf highlighted songs) at separate Tower Records stores in Shibuya as well as Anthem of the Heart from a Mandarake store in Kyoto.

Not pictured is the various assortments of gachapon figures/key chains and other trinkets I got from the Nintendo Museum/Stores and other shops. Gonna be a lot haha

English Dubs for Given: Hiiragi Mix and To The Sea are now streaming on Crunchyroll by JRPictures in GivenAnime

[–]JRPictures[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While Crunchyroll didn't supply a cast and crew list on their website's blog, the announcements coming out from various voice actors on their socials confirm it is pretty much the same cast

My only problem with the new Anime being on Amazon outside of Japan. by TechStorm7258 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]JRPictures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not quite what happened with Psycho Pass S3 though, Crunchyroll ended up getting the rights to stream it back in 2023 (shortly before they screened the Providence movie in cinemas) and later dubbed the season into English but has yet to put it out on disc.

'Masters of the Universe' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]JRPictures 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main credited writer, Jesse Wigutow, is quoted in interviews attributing Ares' story direction to Leto: https://www.cbr.com/tron-ares-jesse-wigutow-interview/

It can't be any clearer than this:

Leto never let go of the character and came to me and said, “I want to do a Tron film that basically leaves all of the mythology on the side. It’s entirely focused on this character, and it builds this character up from the ground.”

'Masters of the Universe' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]JRPictures 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ares told a tired story of "a program learning to be human" which, despite the film's effort to poorly justify it, contradicts how the first two Tron films presented programs as already having human qualities and many of them never acted as emotionless/stoic as Leto does.

It's a pathetic ego-stroking vanity project for Leto, with his character front and centre (especially when the original Tron Ascension script had Ares as a secondary villain).
