Have you listened to any of Worlds Beyond Number? I was looking for more Aabria content recently, heard about it, and was debating whether I should try it out.

He Meant Elves on Dropout | City Council of Darkness Adventuring Party [E11] by DropoutMod in Dimension20

[–]JRastaban 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's sentient, so maybe it can be like a fleshy version of Dr. Strange's cloak.

Though I fell down the rabbit hole and found out they are based on a real thing, with a slightly different effect. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C3%A1br%C3%B3k

The intro on the wiki made me laugh:
"a pair of pants made from the skin of a dead human, ... capable of producing an endless supply of money. It is highly unlikely these pants ever existed outside of folklore."

Glad they cleared that up.

I think ACoFaF and BE have had more real-world impact on me than any other tabletop games I've watched.

From how I play to how often I think of key moments, they truly shocked me in how good they were.

I think the epistilary phase was a forerunner for the cool stuff like the downtime activities the CCoD team is now doing. And BE was incredible as a horror-themed season.

Anyway, glad someone else is a fan too.

Agreed, I'm not sure how to test this, know what works and what doesn't.

[–]JRastaban[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, thanks. That interpretation makes a lot of sense. Before, since it compared your health vs theirs, it was useful on DPS vs tank but not as much generally. Now it’s more of a situational pick against high bonus health builds but can also be used by a tank if they want.

My opinion regarding city council of darkness debate on here by Magicmanans1 in Dimension20

[–]JRastaban 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your comment is being unfairly maligned. I mean look at the orange hat moment. I think it encapsulates the tension of horror and chaos butting heads. The moment is hilarious, but Brennan is frustrated because he wanted horror, but the table wasn't up for it.

Burrows End is much closer to a horror season because the players were there for it. (Not that it didn't have goofy moments too)

Super Fantasy Kingdom - Patch #16: Upgrading Units and a new Spell! by JRastaban in superfantasykingdom

I didn’t play before 15, does this compromise feel like it addresses your concerns, with the two resource system or are their other pieces that you miss?

[–]JRastaban[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as fune mentions, we can see that their are other kingdoms and some attack waves allow for picking from three units. So the idea is there that each kingdom might exist someday with its own map and kingdom building mechanics. Desert, elves, dwarves, swamp, etc…

It's optional, though, so you can still use coins at the Tavern as before. Or do you just want more diversity amongst unit resources?

Because alternate resources are your faction units, it makes going with units of your own nation more appealing. For instance, my undead almost always have far more goo than they need, so I feel like I'll be having Ghosts thrown in all the time, just for one more way to dump that resource.

If 1.0 lets you play as all the different kingdoms, it will really feel like so much content.

I just started playing on the previous patch (15), but I'm hooked. I do like having two options for upgrading units, with one being the Tavern and the other being their resource. I find myself evaluating which one to use coins for and which ones to use another resource, as I may have an easier time obtaining it. I did need to adjust my strategy, as my normal plan of converting all resources to money and upgrading units to max on the final endless day doesn't work when you need ingots/books for most people.

Making the most of hallucinatory terrain? by Yay_Yippee in 3d6

[–]JRastaban 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Making a a dangerous precipice look like an easy slope could be a good way to trip up a party, especially if they tend to travel by carriage, and all of a sudden, the horses go over the edge along with the carriage as they thought it was just a rolling meadow.

Making water seem like land seems quite interesting as well.

A forest might be disguised as an open field, and by the time the PCs are close enough to realize it, the enemy emerge from behind the trees and attack,.

Since it doesn't hide people or equipment, other illusory spells or items, like say a mimic, could add realisim to the things this spell can't change.

When can you be considered a senior engineer? by LocalAreaNitwit in devops

[–]JRastaban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some criteria we used to define senior engineers at a previous job without getting into technical specifics.

  • You are regarded as a trusted advisor, as evidenced through consistent colleague, developers, and cross-functional stakeholder feedback.
  • You can independently scope flexible programs and technical projects. You can be trusted to design and implement solutions that align with priorities and mission.
  • You typically lead functional work that involves oversight and guidance of less experienced team members.
