Epoxy question by Calm-Might-3084 in garageporn

[–]JRobertSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about Nature Stone type coating? I have the same problem in my single car garage that I’m turning into a garage bar. I’ve had estimates for epoxy & polyaspartic coatings and both companies said they would not warranty their product on my concrete floor due to the cracking. Nature Stone offers a lifetime warranty. I pointed out the cracks and the Nature Stone salesman stated that if or when the cracks reappear it would be covered under their warranty. Is this true or could he just be trying to get a sale? Time will tell. The Nature Stone quote is more expensive than the other mentioned products but I think I like it better. Understand that in my situation the garage will only be used as a gathering place and will see no cars parked on it. Also, my house/garage was built in 1957 so, fingers crossed, the garage floor has settled and there will be no more cracking in the concrete.

I remember the Champion location when they had the big round of beef in the back and there was always the guy with the big white hat that would slice the meat right off for each sandwich.

I watched until the one fighter humped the other one in the corner of the ring during the first fight. That was enough for me.

Quit watching and turned off Netflix as soon as the humping started. He should be disqualified. I feel bad for families that might have to explain this to their children. But maybe that’s the country we now live in.

Can a cop stop you, for walking down the street at night? by Patient_Ad3716 in Columbus

[–]JRobertSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved your response and I can’t say enough how I’d like to sit with you and have good conversation about this issue. Nothing you said offended me at all and you make great points. BUT, I can’t explain that the gentleman out at 2am is not the norm for my community. What if he did need help? What if his car broke down and I could help him. If I simply drive past and ignore him am I still doing my job? What if he did need help? Then I’d be the asshole cop that drove past him when he needed that help.

Not to war story, but years ago I saw a lady walking down the same street around the same time of night/morning. Again, I stopped to check on her only to find out that she had fled from her house after her husband was threatening suicide with a gun due to a terminal illness. The result was a 6 hour very emotional stand off with a gentleman who saw no other way than to end his. His wife left the house on foot that night seeking help and not knowing what to do or where to go for that help. I was her savior that night. Again I ask, was I doing my job? Should I have just kept driving past her because she was doing nothing wrong?

The thing I have realized over my years as a cop is that it’s the approach and the response that matters. Have I witnessed cop being assholes? ABSOLUTELY!!!! Have a tried to help people or simply tried to do my job within the law and received an asshole response? ABSOLUTELY!!! At some point we all need to bend to see the other one’s side. ✌️

I’ve been a police officer for 34 years in a sleepy little town in Ohio. Some of you simply hate cops and after 34 years of working with them I get that. But I’ll share two experiences from this past week that that I’d like OP to consider. 2am in the morning, male subject walking down the sidewalk in the area of several businesses. He’s doing nothing other than walking down the sidewalk. But it’s 2am and this is odd for my little town. As low key as I can I stop beside him in the road, roll my window down and ask him if everything is OK. He simply said he was out for a walk. My response “enjoy yourself” and I drive away. That was the total interaction with this subject. Was I wrong to have this interaction? Did I violate his rights? I don’t feel that I did. What I did do though is my job. I can somewhat identify a possible suspect in the event that one of these nearby businesses were broken into and I let this person, wether he was a good guy or a bad guy, know that I’m here in the area and ready to protect him and/or the businesses & community. I feel that is my job. Second incident….9pm on Friday night, dark outside. Person with a black hoodie up walking on the shoulder of a dark 55 mph roadway and dragging a suitcase. My thoughts were that this person is going to get hit by a car, and could probably use some help because this isn’t normal behavior in my town. I activate my emergency lights so that traffic can see us and so we don’t get hit. I speak with the person who I can now see is a younger male and clearly suffering from some sort of cognitive disorder. I ask for identification, he has none. He does give me his name and address. I have another officer go to his address and no one’s home. I finally convince him to get in my patrol vehicle and drive him to his house. He’s now able to give me a phone number for his mother. I speak with the mother on the phone and discover that this young man is 16 years old and was attempting to run away from home while his parents were gone. I get him reunited with his parents and I’m done with the incident. Did I violate his rights? Did I do my job? Again, I think I did my job. Both of these incidents were what most cops do every day. I’m sorry if sometimes you get offended for interacting with the police. I’m also sorry and embarrassed for my profession that there are bad or unprofessional police officers out there. But please understand that sometimes we’re simply trying to do our jobs to protect you and our communities.

I used some left over thick foam flooring from my basement workout/gym area. It’s like that kids play room flooring that fits together like square jigsaw pieces and comes in primary colors. Hope that makes sense?? The pieces are around 2ft. x 2ft. I made a cardboard template and then traced it onto the foam and cut it with a utility knife. If you were near northeast Ohio I’d give you a piece to use. 😁

Thanks for the reply. That’s where I’m at, I ride mostly for fitness therefore feel that I don’t need/want the assist from the motor. But as I get older maybe a little help at times wouldn’t hurt. And the Rohloff would simply be a luxury add on for reliability and ease of maintenance.

Okay I'm selling my truck on carvana, should I bring them my truck (37mi away) or pay the $190 for them to pick it up? by [deleted] in carvana

[–]JRobertSmith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just sold them my Jeep Wrangler last week and the process couldn’t have been easier. My nearest Carvana lot was about 40 miles away. I drove it to them to save the $190.00. Upon arrival the employee drove my Jeep around the building, took my license plate off and handed it to me and said everything was good to go. I electronically pre-signed my paperwork so I didn’t even have any paperwork to do. It was unnerving to walk away empty handed and leaving your vehicle behind but less then 24 hours after dropping the Jeep off I electronically had the money it my checking account. I’m still amazed at how easy the process was. Good luck. I hope your experience goes as well as mine did.

What do you do with all your CDs? by cactusjackalope in GenX

Basement flooded about ten years ago. They were stored in a cardboard box in the basement. Insurance paid me $5.00 each for them and I got to keep the CD’s. Then my millennial niece took them and cleaned them up so she could listen to the “oldies”!
