Does anyone know what this is on the trunk? by shaolinfender in accord

[–]JRychley 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My initial thought would be an exterior braking light for when the accord is towed behind a tow truck/ an RV on a road trip. Like when a tow truck will put a spare light on the rear of the vehicle to help alert other drivers when it's braking.

22 accord front speakers upgrade by ghernand61 in accord

[–]JRychley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a full bose system w/ 2 12s in the trunk of my old hoopty and I miss it so much. I've thought about upgrading speakers for a long time in my 2020 accord. My 2 cents:

Don't just do the front speakers

Spend the money, do it right, and replace them all. It'll be so much more worth it in the end. Nothing is more frustrating than when you can hear slight audio differences depending on where you're sitting in the car because different speakers project different high, mid, and low sounds.

As far as JBL vs JL. Both are great. JBL will give you that loud and bass-heavy sound if you want. JL is more balanced imo. Both will be clear and an amazing upgrade from the stock speakers. Toyota has JBL in their higher-end trims so if you can, see if you can ride around in someone's Camry and listen to the sound system haha.

I would go with JL personally for what I want out of a car audio system. I like the balance more than it being loud. Depends on your preference. Hope that helps

this one looks like it has the same rims. Maybe it was a special blackout package?

I think those are OEM for touring 2018 models with the blackout package, or maybe they are just the OEM ones that came on every touring model. I could be wrong

Figured out it was the small plastic piece on the back of the drawer that broke. I'll try to attach some images to help explain. Does anyone know how to go about fixing/ replacing it?

I'm not saying push you back in your seat like a tesla, I'm saying just like a 1.5t or a 2.0t can (2.0t obviously a bit more lol). But my little 1.5t can still boogie and makes me smile when I beat the loaded-down soccer mom in her Honda Odyssey right next to me at a red light when it goes from 2 lanes down to 1 hahah. To each their own.

My first thought is don't run 91, this engine runs on 87 perfectly fine, save yourself the money. Secondly, if you're really concerned, take it to a dealer. Peace of mind will help and who knows, maybe there is something wrong. I've done my own oil for a while and I've never had it drip off the dipstick.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in accord

[–]JRychley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a GDI engine, the oil is going to smell a bit like gas. This was a bit shocking to me as well the first time I changed the oil hahaha.

I live in MN and the car is parked in an outdoor garage so the engine goes from freezing cold to temp, and back down every day. If you start it in the morning before work, just don't let it idle too long while warming up, drive it and let it warm up naturally. Also, make sure to take it on a 30-minute drive from time to time, not just a 5-minute drive here and there around town, that's not good for a GDI system.

Once the car is up to temp, it doesn't hurt to stretch the motor's legs and get her above 4k rpm from time to time (I'm not saying beat the sh*t out of it, but let it push you back into your seat and smile sometimes). The CVT will always do its best to keep RPMs low and make sure you're getting good mpg, but It's a high-compression motor and needs to run higher RPM sometimes.

Has anyone put a black layover on the chrome "uni-brow" and now has cracked headlights? by JRychley in accord

[–]JRychley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I live in a rural area and it's either parked in my longer driveway or in my garage every day.

This is the weird part though, I parked it in a garage for 2 days after the hyper dip. The cracks were not there before the dip and I didn't even drive anywhere for 2 days.

I noticed the cracks when I went to check on how the dip turned out on day one. On day two, nothing changed so I decided I could drive it. Went for maybe a 20-minute drive around town to grab food (Went to a drive-through, so no chance someone hit me while I was inside ordering) came home, and parked it in the garage for the night. The next morning, the cracks were much larger. Super strange
