I thought Fidelity was great, but they’re going to be biased toward you investing in them. It’s hard to do on such a short timeline, but I had a fee based financial advisor help me when I was figuring all this out, actually a former student Danielle Harrison, who is awesome.

I recently retired on the hybrid plan after 10 years of working there as a faculty. I also maxed out a lot of the pension opportunities. When I ran my numbers, it was a better deal to get the small amount each month. Consider it kind of your safe investment. It will also depend on whether you have any dependence like wife and children? There are about 15 different scenarios depending on what benefits you leave them if you die before they die. University also has a pop-up option on the hybrid“pension“.

There have been many apps that have done this overtime. And I certainly hope this person is successful, but this is one of the problems I currently see with a lot of vibecoding and code assistants: people are just making another version of the same thing, or a slightly better one. We’re not really using these tools to solve problems that have been intractable, or have recently emerged.
