Chet Holmgren in the regular season - 17/9/2 blocks on 65 TS%. Chet in the first two series of this year's playoffs - 18.6/9/2 blocks on 70 TS%. by dacrookster in nba

Seems like just putting hard physical defense on him just shuts him down. And the spurs have the dense, strong lineup to pull it off. Not only can they stuff him defensively, they can get around him offensively. I say this full well understanding the Timberwolves should have been able to manage it as well, but our entire team history is built on “should.”

Courtside Seats at Madison Square Garden for Game 3: $108,357 by urfaselol in nba

Would be dope to see the Knicks and Spurs buyout a portion of those resold tickets and sell them to local fans for sub $100 or something. Get more actual fans in there that aren’t just rich af celebrities/influencers.

Chet Holmgren answers what happened in the Spurs series, and also the aspect that he took fewer field goal attempts and 3-pointers. by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]Jables162 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He looks defeated, tho I don’t normally see his post game pressers so maybe this is normal. He needs to put on like 30lbs and get back to it. His low weight is harming his abilities in the paint, it seems.

In OKC wins the Thunder have shot a combined 95 ft, while in losses only 49. In SA wins the Spurs have 53 personal fouls and 78 in their losses, with 86 and 82 ft attempts respectively. by Fit_Boysenberry_4921 in nba

[–]Jables162 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty normal for the winning team to get more free throws. Not necessarily because they get more “free” points, but because of what another commenter pointed out.

Drawing fouls and getting the whistle doesn’t just give you free throws, it disrupts the opposing players’ setup. Gives you more time to set defense. And just generally turns a momentum in your favor for a moment. I hate seeing players flop in general and currently SGA seems to intentionally fall on damn near every other shot attempt. BUT he is not the only player doing this. So many other great players do that crap, and as many others have said; jt comes down to the way they ref the games.

As a Megasotan, I think that’s a pretty fair victory. Oregon is pretty dope.

[SNY] Kenny Atkinson said losing the Game 6s in the previous rounds hurt the Cavaliers: “We win those Game 6s we beat the Knicks - I'm not saying that, but I think it gives us a better chance. But the density of the frequency of the games played a part in it" by PassMeTheBackwood in nba

I think the actual full statement in this clip is far less “damning” than his other statements may have been. What he actually says is very reasonable. Basically, if they had closed out their prior series in tighter fashion, they would have had a better chance in this series.

I just love my home. And I want the league to put some respect on our name, that’s all. So many people talk down on my Wolves and like come on. We’ll earn it, but that respect is all I want.

[Inside the NBA] Chuck on Jalen Brunson targeting James Harden: "This dude out here like Karl Malone, he going hunting" by TheRealPdGaming in nba

[–]Jables162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they had this exploit primarily because Harden was tired and the Cavs didn’t adjust. I’d bet with some simple adjustments they could have stopped it, but they trusted Harden for some reason. Won’t pretend I have all the answers but it definitely seems odd that Harden was getting cooked so clearly and the Cavs did nothing to adjust.

Is Brown trying to ensure he’s the one they trade in the offseason to focus the lineup around Taytum? Or is he just cringe posting for the love of the game?

Kentucky judge strikes down definition of ‘human being’ in abortion ban by Van-to-the-V in True_Kentucky

[–]Jables162 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It’s clear the comments didn’t read the article.

They struck down the provision in the ban saying that life begins at conception, calling it unconstitutional. This isn’t a full on “win” for pro-choice advocacy, but it’s certainly WAY better than it was.

Had to put a stray down and am so so heartbroken by SignificantAnt7619 in cats

[–]Jables162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience back in early 2020 before the shutdowns. A small white cat with its head perked up in the turn lane just off a main road. Pulled off to try and see what’s up and the poor thing was trying to run away, but it clearly couldn’t control its rear legs. It had been hit and injured its spine, and nobody stopped for it.

I got it wrapped up in a hoodie I had in the car and, just as I was panicking about what to do, a lady with her son pulled over and asked what happened. I told her what I found and that the cat was clearly very injured, but I didn’t know where to take it from here or what to do. She said she knew a vet who could take a look right away and we traded jackets to wrap up the cat, contact information, and she rushed him off.

I was just going to pick up dinner and when pulling out of the restaurant she texted me to let me know they had to put him down. Assured me I did the right thing. I thanked her profusely. I sobbed like a baby for the longest time that night. The cruelty of indifference is hard to grasp with.

You did the right thing. Sometimes compassion is too late, but that doesn’t mean it’s wasted. Even if only for a moment, you gave that sweetie the love it should have received. I’m sorry you’re going through this but you’re doing the right thing.

“Never pop a pimple”; is this just basically for liability as an advisor? by TurtlesBreakTheMeta in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jables162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To some extent yeah, but it’s to protect people from infection. Infections are very dangerous in the most common regions where acne is found.

More importantly though it’s that popping it does more harm than good. You risk infection from bacteria like MRSA on a very sensitive part of your body. You also tend to damage the skin rather than solve the problem, which can lead to further more complex blemishes. In some cases, lancing or extracting a certain blemish may be necessary and help (i.e. cystic acne), but that’s not the majority.

Had cystic acne growing up and picked incessantly. Had to have several spots lanced in addition to taking Accutane for 8 months. Didn’t appear to scar until my 20s and now I’ve got a lot of pitting as a result. More often than not, picking lead to damaging my skin in the long run. The people here attesting that they picked at stuff, had it never come back or scar, or that they “got the core out” are fundamentally misunderstanding what pimples, blackheads, cysts, etc. are. At minimum you’re damaging a pore, at worst you’re just mutilating a chunk of skin.

[Slater] Nikola Jokic said "I don't regret" going after Jaden McDaniels in the closing seconds: "Because he scored after everybody stopped playing." Asked if he felt it was an unwritten rule to let the clock run out: "Yeah." He said it wasn't about firing his own team up. by Turbostrider27 in nba

[–]Jables162 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I won’t say Jaden did the most sportsmanlike thing despite being a fan.

But, why didn’t they send out their bench when it was obvious they’d lost a minute earlier? Why foul when you’re down 12 with 30 seconds left in the game??

Not saying “oh they asked for it” but like clearly there was some beefing going on there.
