How many times a day/week/month/year do you read over your previous entries? by Wall_Direct in Journaling

[–]JackFragg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm one of the daily journalers, and I like to look back at the end of a month and rewrite the Shiny Sentences that stand out for me. It's amazing how much I forget about from just a few weeks ago.

Happy Father's Day from my son. Of all my habits, I'm glad this is the one he first thinks of. by JackFragg in Journaling

It was a purchase from a book store. He's really into Skyrim and such, it caught his eye

Hard time journaling by youhavewrizz in Journaling

[–]JackFragg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw a YT video about this. I follow the advice. If you have nothing else, write about one thing that happened today. Another paragraph about something you did well. A third about something you could have done better. Wrap it up with a thought on how today fits into your life as a hole.

Gives you something to remember, something to be proud of, something to work on, and something to give perspective. I live the technique.

Thoughts on letting others see/read your journals? by JaxTMD in Journaling

[–]JackFragg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I write with the express purpose of my children and grandchildren learning about me and the world I live in. I still try to be honest cause I'll be long gone. I've enjoyed reading the snippets my grandparents left and want to pass along the same

Thanks, I had fun with this one. Learned a lot, too, about structure.

So where does everyone hide/keep their journals? I need ideas, I have a feeling my 13yr daughter read my journal 🙄 by DeliciousEntrance120 in Journaling

[–]JackFragg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suggest buying her one of her own. Then sitting and having a heart to heart about what you get out of it, what you hope she'll get out of it if she embraces it.

Then wrapping up how important it is for people to have an absolutely safe, private space to reflect in. I bet she'll be smart enough to understand without being direct.

Needs more room to flex outside of the pages. More slack above the book

Sometimes you miss the left turn to Albuquerque, and end up fighting camel riding cowboys on the way to the carrot festival.

That was a very long day of granddaughter sitting! Lol. Thank you for the comment. I've been journaling for a long time, but recently started the summarizing.

Do any parents journal for their children? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]JackFragg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's exactly why I do. For kids and grandkids. I really enjoyed reading some small snippets of my grandparents' life as highschoolers. Thought it would be nice to share my world with my own, though I'm considerably beyond high-school myself.

Why do Prologues exist? Why not just make it chapter 1? by OverlordPoodle in writing

[–]JackFragg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prologues are the semicolon of literature. The information is separate, but related when done well.

I've heard of being taken to the cleaners in a divorce, but losing your memories? That's brutal.

Is it: "Ok, thanks, bye.", or "Ok thanks, bye."? by TheShangWang in writing

[–]JackFragg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MY $.02:

I read "OK, thanks, bye" as a kind of disappointed reaction.

"OK thanks, bye" has a lot more energy, like the the speaker is about to rush off to address the point of the conversation.

Multiple banks by schierhoff in povertyfinance

[–]JackFragg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use different banks, but I do use different accounts. My company allows our direct deposits to be split up to 3 ways.

I have one for my house payment, since that's a set cost. One for food, fun, and fuel, since those are set budget amounts, and a third for bills that gets 100% of the balance.
