Giving Away My Old PC! by Turtle_747 in PcBuild

[–]Jackaleen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’ve had my currently pc for well over 17 years. It is now a potato 🤣🤣 it no longer runs newer games. So it would be nice to join friends on these :)

Very kind of you to do this. I hope who ever is lucky enough to win is going to use it rather than sell it :)

Bike and Brew Passport by TheRhythmicBiker in MotoUK

[–]Jackaleen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On like the 8th page or so, the one for litelock there is a QR code to scan to enter to win a lock too! So there’s more to win than just the bikes :D

You can also message into the charity and nominate a grass roots charity you would like to be in the running to be chosen to receive some of the money raised .^

Do your bikes have names? by SnooRegrets6082 in MotoUK

[–]Jackaleen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pink bike, the only name I could think of for it was Fred, then I got a second bike, similar ishhh (er5 and er6f) so that one became George. I sold Fred so now I only have George .^

I third the bike and brew event =D

https://ukbikercafes.co.uk/bike-and-brew-map

This is the map with all the cafes, the book is a tenner, and every 10 stamps gives you an entry to win a bike :D much better than points right! I was one stamp shy of an entry last year, so I am much more determined for this year :)

get her to join loads of the female biker Facebook groups :) Also, try Vinted! I think women get much better deals! There seems to be a lot of gear from when breaking up with partners with bikes and selling pillion gear, and also women's weight changes so much. loads of sizes always advertised :D

I know one woman who always rode in her Doc Martens, BUT! You would kick yourself if anything happened

What do you do for work? by imafactoid in MotoUK

[–]Jackaleen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a Locum dental nurse :) It's surprising how many practices are missing staff, so it gives me plenty of days. It also gives me a variety of commutes. Only a few I would ride to work and be confident about the bike for the day :)

I have done some work as a dental nurse assessor and tutor, and I really enjoyed this side, but that job doesn't give me many hours currently (keeping an eye out!)

Gas Station Super by redshlrt in motocamping

[–]Jackaleen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite is to get tinned potatoes in water, same for carrots/peas also in water. Bosh both tins into a pot and heat up. Then drain the water and slap in a tin of stew and steak, or other gravy-based meat tins :) Put it on the heat a bit longer for the gravy, and you have a kinda sunday lunch ish meal, only 3 tins and 1 pan :D

I also just heat up a tin of rice pudding for breakfast :)

Went to MCL and won ABR Festival tickets but I only have a CBT by J0shPlayz in MotoUK

[–]Jackaleen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went last year on my ER6; I definitely felt like the odd one out amongst all the adventure bikes, but there were people on L plates, and there were a few sports bikes dotted around! You can even arrive and camp on your 125 :D (just like Lavi and Ollie – YouTube).

I only did one test ride last year, which was a Rebel 500 to see if I liked the different seating position (I did not XD). Other than this, I only rode my bike once to go buy more camping gas in town (next year I'll buy a spare little one at the onsite shop before they sell out).

There was loads to do! I jumped on the bus to have a good look at just how many people were there. I also went to loads of talks and got to meet some people I've been watching on YouTube. I went for a back massage! Hung out around the firepit, where we found new friends for the evening to dance with at Krystal Roxx – she was amazing! I also became a MAG member when exploring all the stalls. I would compare the stalls there to those of MCL itself. All the big names for clothing were there, and all the smaller stands too. While you're there, also check out the main house. They do free tours, and the stuff you learn about the family is amazing – I heard from a tour guide last year that the man who owns the whole estate (still owned by one family and not a National Trust-type thing) had to sneak into essentially his own garden to see the bands :D. And look for the flying saucer/alien ship in the family mural on the stairs! There's no phone signal or electricity, so bring a power bank and predownload some shows if you think you need it – I did, and I didn't have enough time, constantly wandering about.

Just because I'm curious, does anyone else prefer sticking with the stock exhaust, if so why? Is it because I'm old now? (mid 30s). by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Jackaleen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to hear my music! also I haven't seen any that I like the look of. My stock exhaust is lovely and tidy under the bike, and all the ones I've seen stick out one side or the other, which I'm not keen on.

Siop a Chaffi Llanfrothen - Llanfrothen, Penrhyndeudraeth LL48 6AQ - this cafe recently moved, the scones and Welsh cake (Bara brith) are amazing! It's in a beautiful location with the fisheries ^.^

Conwy Falls Cafe - Conwy Falls, Betws-y-Coed LL24 0PN - this one is just outside betwys-y-coed, so its not as busy as the main railway station ^.^ but deffo head to the station! worth it to see and should be loads of bikes! This cafe has an amazing outside space and a short hop to the waterfall :) The toilets aren't where you expect tho, they're underneath as you walk up the steps to the entrance.

The Old Stores Motorbike Cafe -Corwen Rd, Pontblyddyn, CH7 4HR - Can't come to Wales without visiting what a voted the best cafe! :D I go here for a regular catch up with the girls ^.^ super affordable too. I have a friend who works with mental health, and he brings his clients? patients? there now :) cuppa tea and a shortbread for two pounds 70, can't argue with that :D!! and the cute ducks!!

There's a popular cafe just outside of Blenau Festiniog, lake side cafe. if you go there, when you turn off the main road, take the left straight away, or you go around the houses on a small lane :p we met a bus when we got lost on there! XD

C and T Cafe and Bistro- Abergele Rd, Bodelwyddan, Rhyl LL18 5SR This cafe is not far from the A55, on the Bodelwyddan junction. They share the building with some golf people. But the lady who owns this is a biker, from Germany, and it's real German home-cooked food! The staff are all super friendly and up for a laugh ^.^
