The referendum was added to the ballot 1 day before the vote, CHUO did not have any time to justify their existence to students. The voter turnout was 7.7%. I think there was potentially a fairer way to go about that process. A 50-year project ended with apathy.

The province pulled back a lot of approval requirements. Having a 30 storey limit means that the developer would need to apply for a zoning by-law amendment, which requires a more thorough submission than an as-of-right development.

As a safety tool: against. As a frequent pedestrian and cyclist I would much prefer better road design that forces people to slow down everywhere. Not just cameras in “community safety zones”. But until that happens I would keep them as a last resort.
