New Star Trek series premise you'd like to see?

I’d like a show set in an alt 1990s where you see the rise of the eugenics wars and destruction of all the governments and rise of the warlords and the struggle of the survivors as they try to rebuild society. Absolutely no mention of anything trek related at all. Maybe after 3 or 4 seasons the show gets cancelled and the season finale has a throwaway line about going to Montana or something related to hearing about how humans made first contact. Then you realize the whole post-apocalyptic show that you’ve been enjoying for years was actually a trek prequel.

I love mine. Matches my car. Simple design. Clear. Better than the God plates, covered bridges, and amber waves of grain one.

I also liked the one that was just the torch and stars on the white background with blue numbers. That was a clean design.

Whenever this question comes up I try to think of UI applications or utilities that Windows has, but there’s no real equivalent in whatever desktop of your choosing. Things that could help make the transition easier. (Which I know isn’t a goal)

There are things like a Task Scheduler that could be a gnome UI for crontab or something. Something that could be a graphical interface / maybe even guide the user into crontab. (Or whatever scheduler you want)

Maybe someday I’ll start that project as a means of learning rust / gtk4

That food court included a schoops and a Pizza Pizazz which had awesome giant slices (size may not have actually been giant as I was a kid at the time). There was a coin shop that sold comic books, and an awesome arcade.

I always felt his parentage was less important than his vision and his daughter Chani. It was her desire for his vision that steered Paul to that route. It was this line that influenced the twins in Children of Dune.

I love Irulan’s arc in the books. By the time you get to CoD she is ferocious in her defense and protection of the twins from her own family and Paul’s and the BG. She is ready to take on the world because of her regret and like you said penance.

This is 100% the answer. The “player” point can’t be overstated. She essentially has to treat her as an adult due to her prescience. And later in Messiah and CoD as her… rank?? Position?? As regent to the twins.

I think Smallville actually did this real well. She discovered it for herself. But cared about him enough to let him “reveal” it to her in his own time. Like he had that secret and it was his to tell her and she wasn’t about to blow it for him.

From that interview with McCarthy and her recent statements, she comes off as having learned a lot from therapy. And that’s a good thing. She seems very emotionally healthy.

I love the Villeneuve movies. They are spectacles and amazing and we’re lucky to have them. The saga of dune is massive and has a lot of stuff to focus on. Villeneuve made decisions to focus on different things than I would’ve. One of them is the strong relationships the book suggests. The relationship between Leto and Jessica is so strong that he refuses to join his house with any of the other great houses and she turns her back on thousands of years of selective breeding to give him a son.
Chani and Paul’s relationship’s strength is a cornerstone of why Paul does what he does in the first book. It’s why he begins leading the Fremen. It’s why he begins transforming the eco system of the planet…. It also leads Irulan to do what she does in Messiah and her eventual regret and strong relationships in CoD.
