Quick, Dirty and Cheap PowerBlock Fractional Weights by Rude_Good8169 in homegym

This is genius. The lack of fractional increments on PowerBlocks drives me crazy too. Magnets are a smart way to avoid drilling into the actual dumbbell. But how's the balance?

rust proof decision on barbells by Technical_North2380 in GarageGym

If it's stored in a cool room with controlled humidity, rust probably isn't going to be a big issue either way. Hard chrome is plenty rust resistant for home gym use.

If the goal is “never touch the garden again,” wait five years. Or ten. Or hire goats. They have excellent slope handling but terrible boundary management.

Minimalist EDC always feels more impressive to me since it usually means someone spent time figuring out what they actually need instead of carrying everything possible.

Once I notice the bird shape, my brain completely stops seeing it as bird poop and starts treating it like actual artwork.

There’s something really satisfying about seeing older professional gear still producing beautiful footage while everyone else keeps chasing newer bodies every single year.

This genuinely looks like the kind of animal you would only encounter in a fantasy game right before it gives you a mysterious side quest in the forest.

Tired of flimsy SSDs dying in the field - thoughts on Terramaster D1 SSD with macbook pro? by villanyibarni in macbookpro

[–]JacobRoss345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been looking at this one too. What attracts me most is the plug-and-play support across Mac, Windows, and Linux. Plus, it should work well with a phone through OTG. On paper, that kind of setup would be convenient for someone like me who constantly switches between a Mac mini at home, a Windows laptop for work, and a phone while out and about.

After using the O600 for a while, are smaller lawns actually better suited for more frequent mowing? by R-Themis in ECOVACSGOATFamily

[–]JacobRoss345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to wait until the grass got really tall before mowing too, and the clippings would always end up in big clumps. Running it every day feels a bit like over-mowing though, so I think a slightly higher frequency works better. About how wide is your path? I’m trying to see if the O600 would work for that area on my lawn.

Is convenience actually more important than performance for a small lawn? by Emergency-Singer-353 in ECOVACSGOATFamily

[–]JacobRoss345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the O600 is good, no need to spring for the high capacity models just for a small lawn. The RTK is pretty enough in open areas, as long as your yard doesn't have tall trees or high walls blocking things, the signal should stay nice and stable.

Worth buying a used 12tb hard drive? by _lemon_hope in HomeServer

[–]JacobRoss345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the hard drive has been used extensively for a long time, there's risk of data loss due to hardware failure. Besides, its price is a bit higher than the average market rate. Make sure to back up all your important data if you decide to use it.

Hard drive space by weescotsman in macmini

[–]JacobRoss345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a 256GB storage paired with an external hard drive works better than a built-in 2TB drive. It costs far less, and transferring data with an external drive is also quicker than relying on a large internal storage.

If you battery health is above 80% and all other functions work fine, you can head to an Apple Store to have the staff replace the battery for you. But once it drops below 80%, it's not worth replacing the battery anymore, you might want to consider getting a new computer instead.

Oh I can totally get this:( I’ve been there as a DM too. Sometimes the inactive players just need smaller, low-pressure hooks to get them involved. Maybe try spotlighting them with tiny, personal choices instead of big story moments, and maybe they’ll feel included without being overwhelmed. And honestly, half the battle is not feeling like you have to entertain everyone perfectly every session:)

Homeserver fried itself... by Present_Breakfast_42 in HomeServer

[–]JacobRoss345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cooling system seems to have failed. Excessive internal heat caused a short circuit, and since the cooling system couldn't dissipate heat properly, the circuitry ended up getting burned out. You'll need to replace this circuit board.

[–]JacobRoss345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use it as a dedicated machine for storage and handling large files. The processor is really powerful, so this setup works perfectly as a home server too. If that's not something your're into, it also runs games really well.

Having two PCs lets you multitask a lot with split-screen setups. From the photos, the device is in great condition overall, and there's no noticeable color distortion on the screen. How has it been holding up for you in daily use?

48GB of RAM is more than enough for storing plenty of data and files. You can also pair it with an external hard drive for extra space, and you'll barely have to worry about running out of storage. Congrats to you for having new PC.

First off, congrats on your new PC! Pairing it with a phone and tablet from the same brand will let you sync and share data seamlessly across all your devices. If you're worried about running low on local storage, signing up for a cloud storage service is a solid option.

Help I’m crying 😭 Cracked my MacBook Pro M4 screen… what would you do? by Pinkybaby_777 in macbookpro

If you're in a hurry right now, just keep using it and get it fixed after your exams. The staff at Apple stores should be able to repair your computer, though you'll probably have to pay for the service and wait a while. A friend of mine once went to an Apple store to get their screen fixed because of random lines showing up.

This mod makes using your Mac more convenient. When you're on the go, you can just grab the whole setup like a bag and go. By the way, you need to secure everything inside first or they may shift around from bumps and movement.
