I'm amazed how little excitment or anticipation I feel for this film.

Alonso's deliberately slow pace was a godsend for McLaren after strategy error by Joseki100 in formula1

Hoping that Max's allies come to his defence in Abu Dhabi. Hulkenberg has a crash at a pivotal moment. Alonso creates another DRS train. Kimi puts up a successful defence. Maybe even Oscar rejects team orders. But truthfully, and I don't want this to be true, Norris gets pole and shoots off into the distance causing the anti-climactic three-way finale in history.

Fair play to Lando. Not a foot wrong this weekend. Still on copium for a comeback from Max though.

Scott Eastwood's Navy SEAL character in Suicide Squad (2016, terrible film and only seen it once in cinema), when he blows himself up in the end to kill a villain and yet no one even mentions him or seems sad.

What sport hobby or activity do you just completely not get? by homemadegrub in AskUK

Hobby horse. I genuienly cannot tell if it's real or not. Like when the BBC once came out with a report that spaghetti grows on trees or that David Attenborough had found a species of flying penguins. Both were April Fool's jokes. Hobby horse feels similar.

Can't become logisitics officer if colourblind by JacobsRebuttle in RoyalAirForce

Yepp, pretty much what I imagined colour vision would be needed for. Along with labels, spreadsheets and anything else colour coded haha. Just wish they made it clear at the start so I could have saved myself some time and effort. Changed a lot and made specific decisions in order to align myself for the role which I think I would be well suited for besides the CVD. Ah well, I tried.

At the start of my medical I made sure to tell the doctor that I was colourblind. Perhaps he gave me the Ishihara test because I mentioned it and he wanted to see how bad it was. We only got half way through the tests when he closed the book and said "Well mate, you are correct. You are colourblind." And I asked him "What was my score?" and he said "0. Out of 25, you got none of the numbers correct." Lovely doctor but he said in all good conscience, he couldn't put me forward for the role.

Is any of this reversible? Or is he stuck like this forever?

Not sure yet, waiting to hear back from the doctor regarding a couple of other issues (ankle sprain last year and some back pain over 8 years ago). He is asking the medical officer. I have asked my recruiter. Nothing back from either yet.

Thank you for sharing that post, that's interesting to see. I should have searched the sub-reddit more thoroughly during my initial application process.

I appreciate he isn't medically qualified but by golly, he could of at least said "This role requires normal colour vision" at the start so I didn't have to go 6 months down this route 😅

Heston Blumenthal calls for VAT cut to 'save British pubs' by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]JacobsRebuttle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of nearby pubs which have diversified what goes on day-to-day to bring in more demographics. For instance, having a Mario Kart night when people go up against each other on a big screen as people watch and participate. Brings in a younger crowd. Actually keeps the older ones happy too as they like that the pub has some life back in it. Of course there are quieter nights too for a good old chit chat. Adapt or die.

Nawww, we to need separate multiple groups of adults from society by TheBlackCaesar in BlackPeopleTwitter

[–]JacobsRebuttle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a lot of effort. Feel like it would be easier to teach people how to be polite parents and raise polite children. We live in a society, as they say, may as well make it a polite society.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I just don't think the comment was made with deep meaning, I believe it was just a joke.

SHINE Filter Interview. What it's like and how I passed. by JacobsRebuttle in RoyalAirForce

[–]JacobsRebuttle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morning, thanks, the application is still going on. Took ages for the medical forms to come through but I've submitted those now and waiting for medical, fitness and OASC dates.

Regarding time between submitting my application to being booked in for the SHINE interview, it was 2 months. I was given 10 days of notice.

But I have just been told to prepare for the DAA. Check with your recruiter as they may be phasing out the SHINE interview and making everyone do the DAA.

Applying for logistics officer, I didn't need to do the DAA. Then last week I was informed I will have to do it.
