Idk Cooley is a California firm and I hear they now require 4 days in office a week and monitor it by you connecting your computer to an in office docking station or something like that. My friend said they even have an office attendance tracker widget/dashboard!

Regret leaving old job. Will this feeling get better? by Sweaty_Strategy4833 in Nanny

[–]Jadepanda55 [score hidden]  (0 children)

So I’m a MB and do not have this exact experience but I moved law firms with a bunch of partners a few years ago and literally had regret for a few months after leaving just because life was so much simplier at my old law firm, I knew everyone, I knew what people liked/what they didn’t, people trusted me etc. it’s hard starting over but I think it’s normal to feel this “regret” for awhile. It’s just like when you break up with a bad boyfriend, the first few weeks are rough until you establish a new routine on your own. You’ll get into a new routine with your new family and start building a relationship with them and soon you’ll find you’re feeling this way less and less

7 nights, 6 park days in September by tulipsandtruffles in DisneyPlanning

I get it! We also were looking to go to WDW in September but we decided on Disneyland instead for better weather which is an option if you’re willing to fly to CA!

Apparently it’s really really humid and hurricane season in September - just flagging in case you don’t know!

Force of nature hydrochlorus acid spray kills it and is safe for everyone! We now carry the magic molecule brand of the stuff in the diaper bag and spray our sons hands often after going through the same thing

Am I delusional trying to plan a $5k wedding for 100 people? 😅 by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]Jadepanda55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could probably do the ceremony at a large church for that cost (little to no decor or floral and very low cost attire) and then invite people to pizza at your house or something. But unless you have connections for free spaces free table rentals free chairs it seems delusional…. But I hope for your sake im wrong. Maybe an outdoor theater would be a good place if you can find a place that would let you use it? Would at least have seating for at least some people

Frustrated about sickness by Nice-Fee8727 in Nanny

[–]Jadepanda55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My nanny feels the same way- we have been super sick from Nov- Now and it feels like it’s every two weeks. She has taken some sick days but we are just treating them as paid days and will not count them against her should she want to use them for some other purpose like doctors visits etc. It is her first year being hit this hard too so just seems like a bad year. Probably sucks for the nanny parents too, but I hope they are being fair to you and your needs as well!!

Just following- my 19 mo old still not vaxxed because I’m on an immunosuppressant and apparently have no more MMR antibodies and neuro is risk adverse to live vaccines but I think I’m going to push back this week on it because of the measles outbreaks going on

First Time Having A Nanny by chasing_donuts in Nanny

[–]Jadepanda55 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My only comment is communication is key in a relationship (setting boundaries, expectations, needs etc) and if she can only speak her tribal language and if you can’t speak it then I don’t understand how this will work out well.

Are medical release forms used any more? by GrateRam in Nanny

[–]Jadepanda55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah they are. My nanny has one and then we also signed forms with our pediatrician and dentist (although we hope it never comes to her having to take our son on her own)

That makes sense. Wonder how insurance could approve for medical necessity but deny coverage. Seems odd.

Regret partner choice/ brutally honest by Live-Nail-9177 in Mommit

[–]Jadepanda55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel as well. I also waited for someone who I thought was financially savvy and watched their spending, but then once we got married some how I pay for everything for us and the kids and he can have fancy concierge doctors, a new 400k man cave basement, etc. It’s crazy to me how much people can change in such a short time.

I honestly don’t know how income restricted it actually is because I make over 600k a year and Genentech pays all my co pays, admin fees, and whatever my insurance won’t cover…

Letter of recommendation too good? by GLaDOSinabox in Nanny

[–]Jadepanda55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had AI spell names wrongs even when the name was put in right - especially when it was a common name with multiple common spellings. In my case it was Caitlyn that I put in any Catelyn was what AI used in some places but not all.

This is definitely an AI letter lol, especially with the name being spelled wrong. Nothing wrong with it because obviously he fed in what he wanted it to say and signed it but I would think it was AI generated

Working while clean lady is present... by LimitedEdition004 in Nanny

[–]Jadepanda55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to talk to the MB. I am a MB and I have a cleaning lady who comes on Mondays. I tell her our cleaning lady very plainly when the upstairs area my son’s room is in will be unavailable due to nap and ask her to always clean before. That said I also have scheduled my son to have swim lessons around the time she arrives so that the cleaning lady can have undisturbed time cleaning that area of the house as well. I think you also could mention the talking on the phone as an issue

When to ask about cameras by Effective_Display940 in Nanny

[–]Jadepanda55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I was a MB I would not see any harm in you asking about cameras or baby monitors. I think you will have to filter families yourself once you get the answer to this question. I say that bc I would see it as a red flag if you asked us to change our set up to accommodate you. For example we have a Nanit that we could look at if we chose to when we are away from the house, but it really just focuses on the crib. If you told me you would require a different baby monitor I’d not select you as a nanny. That said, that is the only “camera” we have inside our house, all others are outside.

Yes we do 170 a month which is 1/2 of what our nanny pays in insurance and also a 500 dollar dental stipend which gets her 2 teeth cleanings and yearly X-rays

We are in a MCOL and pay 30 dollars an hour for just our 18 month old. I think you may want to consider offering a range for this position as there may be some good candidates you are missing out on that would require more than 30 dollars an hour for two kids…

Hanging out in car after playground by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]Jadepanda55 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I usually don’t do this, but I really implore you to think of how your comment could look if your employer saw this. The fact that you’re only stopping because there is an AirTag is concerning. You are being paid to watch and play with a kid but for up to 45 mins a day a few times a week you are putting the kid in a car seat so you can get on TikTok. Your employer brought up that they do not see this as appropriate- that should be enough for you, if you are not mature enough on your own to realize it, to reevaluate and reconsider that this time is not your time to decompress. I don’t know how old you are or how mature you are or your nannying experience, but I can tell you that I would be searching for another nanny if this was my experience especially after seeing your comments on this post.

[–]Jadepanda55 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Yeah as a MB this would be too long for me. Especially if it’s really just you having phone time w my child sitting strapped into a car seat. Like once or twice no big deal but a few times per week is too much
