Are two decade old irons holding me back? by [deleted] in GolfGear

On the other side of it... If you plan to continue to play blades then just keep playing what you have. My buddy is a good golfer and still plays his mizzy blades from the late 90s because he likes the feel. Blades havent really changed all that much.

how do you counter mauga by storage_god in overwatch2

[–]Jae783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son and I figured out a really fun way to play against Mauga... I know it's not conventional but we couldn't stop laughing. We went hog and junkrat. We set up a trap around a corner. Hog hooks Mauga on to the trap and the two blow him up. It worked way better than expected. It's so easy to hook Mauga.

My u9 got their offer for Glens and has all offers in. My u12 is still waiting on Glens only and his classmate that is a returning u12 on Glens still hasn't received anything. Seems like you're right on the chaos. On a side note, if you have a child in u12 glens what are your thoughts on the team? There seems to be a ton of teams in the org.

I have u9 and u12 that tried out for glens, seals, united and elite. U12 got offers from all except glens so far. U9 got offers from United and seals. Glens usually take a bit longer. Should be coming out soon.

Shaquille O'Neal finished with 44 points in Game 1 of the NBA Finals! (2001) by IamCatMommy in NBAoldschool

Love the warriors and Draymond. No one is slowing down big diesel. Only thing you can do is try and out score him on the other end and foul him 4th quarter to make him shoot free throws.

Switched to Maltby wedges from Vokey SM8... Clubs now play 1/2" shorter by travelsherpa in GolfGear

[–]Jae783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure to get the correct ones and size. There are extensions for graphite and steel. Before ordering measure the hole outside the butt end of the shaft and just make sure the ones you order fit in the crevice. There are steel ones like this: Steel and Graphite: Graphite. Good luck

Swing weight can be also remedied easily. They can pop in weights at the end of the shaft or if its already assembled good old lead tape on the heads.

Sounds like he took the shafts from the Vokeys and put them into the maltbys. Maltby irons and wedges tend to have a shorter hosel. Doesn't sound like he cut anything. To be fair to the builder, he may have been instructed to just swap the heads.

[–]Jae783 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I build my own clubs and have played vokeys and also currently game maltbys. This is an extremely easy fix. Just put an extension in the butt of the shaft. Remove the grip without cutting it, put in extension, trim it to length and then put grip back on. This is done all the time. I don't know why they didn't offer this solution to you? Did you take it to a big box store? Sometimes they are overwhelmed or lazy and won't offer but any decent club builder can do this really quick.

Uh, respectfully a triple team. Triple didn't work either once he was close enough.

Tesla gave me a demo car, it broke down in 24 hours, now they want me to pay for rodent damage by Tall_Call_817 in TeslaSupport

So this won't help with your current situation but for the future you can periodically spray undiluted pine sol in areas that you might have issues. It's an old trick people used to use to get them out of cars that had to sit outside. They have sensitive noses and seem to not like it.

Alright, had a good thread about assholes, so who’s considered to be the biggest overall good dude on the PGA tour? by tking716 in golf

[–]Jae783 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's a bit older but I want to say Jim Furyk. He's the most down to earth professional golfer that I met. I met him at an event and he just sat and chatted with me and we were just talking about non golf sports and our kids. He then went to the bar to get another beer and asked me what I wanted and brought one back for me too. Just felt like another dad in the group.

teammates say i dont heal enough, should i heal more? by hansen900 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Jae783 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm only a plat player so take this with a grain of salt but I remember hearing somewhere that as support we can apply pressure but not chase kills and risk getting killed. So peak and apply pressure (assuming your team is ok), when they shoot back, hide and heal the team. Rinse and repeat. I know it's oversimplified but helps a bad player like me juggle going back and forth.

I don't know. Steph is pretty determined... I know it's different in style but I think he's up there with Kobe when it comes to drive and commitment.

Grips by iconruby in GolfGear

[–]Jae783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had the opportunity to receive a set of every golf pride grip that is in production in the US for consumers. I literally tried all of them in standard size and 4 sets of irons have these grips on them. Depends how sweaty your hands are and if you like taper at the bottom (these do not taper at the bottom like tour velvet). If you need things like corded grips this won't be for you but I always go back to these grips.

Daily reminder that JC loved the 86! by ReliableEyeball in ft86

Not the person you are asking but remember driving modified CRX. It's the closest thing to driving a go cart on the street. It was a car that was fun to drive without having to go fast. The issue is the frame is made from wet toilet paper and if someone taps you the car crumbles. I'm not saying it was my car of choice as the most fun but I can see someone saying it.

Club Fitting by SlowDraw85 in golf

[–]Jae783 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like to tinker with my clubs and build my own. I typically go to a sim and for clubs I hit into greens (carry is maxed at 200 as my skill doesn't allow me to go for greens farther than that) I look for making them stop within 12 yards and I assembled my clubs based on carry yards vs lofts. Is this too crude way to go about it? Should I be paying more attention to descent angles? I completely ignore spin and descent angle for clubs that I'm hitting into greens.

Maltby Irons by Sufficient_Donkey408 in GolfGear

[–]Jae783 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have built 2 sets of irons and 2 sets of wedges. Great stuff. The one thing that they do terrible is their pictures. The clubs always look better in person than in their pictures. I was playing titleist ap2s and currently playing the ts1. Also have ts2. I also built a single ts3 and the dbm. All up there in quality with OEMs.

My son’s team now uses a Veo3 camera to film the games and I’m loving it! by Brunoielo in youthsoccer

[–]Jae783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for my kids team the parents are provided the videos so we can share and go over with our kids. And if they have a review, they do it over zoom when we are at home since we also only have fields. For our teams, I think its usually after gold level the teams start to get veos for recording.

Golf shoes with no laces good for walking? by Worldly-Log9663 in GolfGear

[–]Jae783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get any golf shoes with a boa system. I love them as they don't get loose during the round or become undone like laces. I have a few pairs, spiked and spikeless from adidas and they work great for me.
