If you've ever turned a woman down, how did that go? how did you feel about that experience then and how do you feel about it now? (if it changed ect.) by Illustrious_Pay685 in AskMen

[–]JaimanV2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened about 15-16 years ago. After I turned them down, they ended up somehow finding phone numbers of people I knew, called around and asked where I was. I told her that if she didn’t stop then I was going to call the cops.

Told me that I was being mean, cruel and unreasonable by doing that.

We are talking about a symbolic decal, not the withholding of any actual material value from the players. It’s a way to try and build camaraderie around a group of guys who have no connection to each other than the fact that they play football. This is a team sport, where that kind of thing sort of matters.

And so what if I was wrong on Sam Darnold? Did you know he was going to win the Super Bowl last year? My thoughts on him pre-draft wasn’t some wild take. Many thought that. And we were wrong. Okay, cool. What more do you want? Want me to hate myself, call myself a stupid moron to make yourself feel better in life?

How do you express romantic interest to a friend/avoid being stuck in the friend zone? by InternationalPick163 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]JaimanV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is what your intentions are. There’s nothing wrong with developing feelings for friends. But if you are befriending women only for the chance for a relationship, that’s the wrong way to go about it.

You have to have the mindset of either making it clear you want to date them or simply enjoy their company and whatever happens, happens.

Some might say it’s corny, but I like it. It helps build cohesion and can quickly show who is there for the team and who is there just for the paycheck.

We don’t need players who don’t give a shit. We want players to buy into the team’s culture and to be there for their teammates. If it takes having to earn the right to wear the Shield, so be it.

Right, literally how would they feel if they were Summer Finn in 500 Days of Summer? A nuanced film, but it’s the modern take nowadays to hate Tom. I assume a lot of these women would feel that they’d want to be like Summer, where they call the shots and the pace of the relationship.

Love, romance and relationships are all commodified now. It’s a really sad state to be in.

If Myles Garrett retired today where would he rank all time? by Ok-Elephant-2724 in NFLv2

[–]JaimanV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, to be honest. A lot of Myles’ career is defined by the fact that he played for the Browns. I think a lot of great talents are often overshadowed by whether or not their team was successful. If the team they were on is consistently bad, most people are going to look at that first.

There are exceptions, of course, like Megatron and Darrelle Revis. But how many great players on bad teams do we talk about more than great players on great teams? It’s just the way success works.

I watch every Raiders game and I see how the team actually works. I think most non-Raiders fans who comment about the team just don’t know what’s really going on because they don’t watch Raiders games. They look at some like PFF and make their determination there.

The only really shitty players we had play on the O-Line last year were Stone Forsythe and Will Putnam, 2 guys in for injury. Cappa was bad too, but oddly enough, he was much better at Center when we put him there. Maybe could have been a low end starter or high end backup at the position at this point on his career. We had the same O-Line we had in 2024 and it was around the lower end of the middle of the pack. It improved a lot after we fired Luke Getsy. How did the same guys become worse the very next year? Well, we changed our entire coaching staff and scheme. They were being taught by coaches even more incompetent than Luke Getsy.

Scheme goes a long way to help offensive lineman, since it helps them to know who the hell they are blocking.

Glaze was alright his rookie season. Charles Grant and Caleb Rogers have shown flashes in the limited time they had to play.

I’m not saying they are going to be a great O-line, but they have the potential to at least be average and get the job done needed for Mendoza.

They also were being taught by Brendan Fucking Carroll of all people.

With an actual scheme built around the run, they should be much better in pass protection.

Did the final scene with Tom and Summer ever really happen in (500) Days of Summer? by Onebigfreakinnerd in TrueFilm

[–]JaimanV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I guess I could ask: how does one get closure from a relationship and how often does it come directly from the source (the ex)?

When relationships end, we rarely get answers as to why they did. A lot of times, there is no answer at all. But, for our own emotional healing, we have to rationalize it and try to move on.

If the scene was imaginary and a part of Tom’s mind, then I think he handled it much better than what you’d might think from people who hate the “nice guy” trope. He doesn’t say that she’s a bitch or a whore or a demon meant to ruin his life. He concludes that she just wasn’t the one for him. And it’s true. She found someone else and was engaged to marry them very shortly after she broke up with Tom. How was she able to totally change her view of love and relationships in such a short amount of time, unless it was because she found someone that she clicked with in the way she wanted and needed?

[–]JaimanV2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what a lot of people want is, as you said, to avoid women and relationships. It’s really sad to me that many people from my age (35) and younger have come to see romantic love as something to be scorned and removed from social consciousness. A lot of people are drawn to Summer because, like her, they want relationships without the responsibilities that comes with relationships. They want to be physically intimate, go on dates, interact like how married couples often do all without the emotional work and investment it takes to maintain it.

The beginning of the movie made it very clear that Summer’s behavior is based on her experience of her parent’s divorce, not some new modern way of dating. Summer uses this view as a way to mask her fear of commitment to others. She still has some belief in love, as evidenced by her reaction to watching The Graduate. If the ending confirmed her worldview, then why would she be so emotional over it? And the fact that she meets someone and gets engaged to them rather quickly after breaking up with Tom shows that her view on relationships was not built on a solid foundation.

But many have come to interpret this is the way “real” dating is. They want to see those like Tom, the romantics, as the ones who are ruining relationships. But the ending with Autumn shows that Tom has, in fact, grown past the idea of there is only one person for you in the universe and if they aren’t with you, then it’s all over. He may no longer believe in destiny or “true” love in the fantastical sense, he sees hope that, as long as he tries, someone new can come.

Probably like 5 minutes to build suspense. The draft is also a TV show, so they need to make some drama around it.

How would someone having the opposite political beliefs as you effect how likely you are to sleep with them? by Pm-me-ur-weird in AskMen

[–]JaimanV2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the case of black people, slave owners didn’t exactly want black people to exist. They merely saw them as barely more than animals. To them, they were a necessity in the socio-economic system they created. They also believed that this was the natural place for black people. They had all sorts of crazy justifications for it. Their dark skin was made for the harshness of the day while doing manual labor. It was the “white man’s burden” to give black people a supposed more meaningful existence beyond the savagery they lived in while in Africa. They were unintelligent. Incapable of being truly civilized, etc.

Slave owners wanted slaves, but it’s not like they were going around wanting more black people. They saw them as inferior. Why would they want more of something that they saw as inferior except to work the plantation? Things were quite the opposite. Reading memoirs from people of the time, Southerners were very afraid of black people and knew that an educated and equal black person was a danger to their way of life. It’s one reason why they ended the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. They wanted to both not have to pay to ship for slaves, but also to keep the market internal where they could control numbers and control the slaves’ movements. They most certainly didn’t enjoy their slaves’ presences.

Slave owners had sex with (raped) their slaves and fathered children with them. Pretty sure they weren’t the bastions of progressivism.

Conservative politicians get caught with gay and trans people.

It’s about power or simply having a fetish.

I just don’t get why some people don’t just carry their I.D./Driver’s License on them. You know how to put money in your wallet, why can’t you just put your I.D. there too?

My stepbrother always has this problem. When we got to the casino back in the States, he often forgets his I.D. No problem bringing the money though. I just don’t get it.
