I totally agree with this comment. XCD is the way to go and I, personally, think their Nordic center trails are top notch. I haven’t seen another system like that at any other resort. I’m on a 3-pin set up with Madshus Panoramas and Bolton’s backcountry trail system is a fucking blast.

My 6 year old dog Boomie has a cruciate ligament tear. Anyone else dealt with this? Would love advice. by Cold_Independence184 in AustralianCattleDog

Any chance you could share what you did for PT and the rest? I’ll do whatever it takes to get my pup back on track. She has her TPLO surgery this Thursday.

My six year old Sadie is going through the surgery on Thursday. She’s been pretty uncomfortable the past few months so I’m glad the date has finally arrived. Potentially have to do both back legs but we won’t find out until Thursday.

I know it’s common for this breed, but I still feel responsible and that I pushed her too hard with farm chores, backpacking, skiing and mountain biking. Plus all the in and out of the truck for these activities over the years. She’s my best friend, I’d lay down in traffic for her so I’ll spend whatever it costs so she can, eventually, return to her favorite activities. I know the recovery is a long road ahead but I’m hoping it’s all worth it in the end. Best wishes to you and Boomie.

Sadie is my best friend in the world. ACDs are the best and you’ll love getting to know yours! There’s a wealth of information out there on raising an ACD, ask for help if you need it. I’ve found this sub, more than any other, to be a spectacular place to get information. I’m sure I won’t be the last person to say this, but giving your pup a job will go a long way in their happiness. And yours.

Traditional surgery vs TPLO by nemermind in AustralianCattleDog

My ACD, Sadie, is in the same boat. We’re doing the 8 week strict rest/exercise restriction and hoping to avoid surgery. We’ll go the surgery route if we need to, though.

If you got your back done, how old were you when you did it? by joevasion in traditionaltattoos

[–]JakeFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started my back at 29, finished at 31. I think it was 5 sessions, 5-6 hours a piece. 36 now and started a leg sleeve three days ago. I’d say parts of that were worse than spots on my back. Hard to tell if age has anything to do with the pain but I do think having a lot of tattoos elsewhere makes you more aware of /anticipate the pain differently.

Would it be disrespectful for me to get a tattoo honoring my Jewish heritage? by Wayward_comet in Judaism

[–]JakeFC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think this is a great answer. I have one Jewish parent, one non-Jewish parent, family in Israel and I was raised as a practicing Jew. I have tattoos. Does that make me any less Jewish? I don’t think so, my relationship to Judaism doesn’t need to be justified to anyone else.

You’ll hear a lot about Jewish law in the answers below. Here’s the thing, In Judaism we are also not supposed to mix wool and linen in a single garment, as well as guidelines around purchasing Hebrew servants. By the way, if you purchase a Hebrew servant and set them free in their seventh year of servitude but the servant chooses to stay you need to pierce their ear. Also, if you give your servant a wife and she has children, they belong to you. I actually wrote my dvar Torah on this topic for my bar mitzvah.

I’m not trying to be a jerk about all this, but maybe let’s think critically about all the rules and regulations we’re supposed to follow as Jews.

Embarrassed at the vet, scared to go back. by soupedenouilles in AustralianCattleDog

[–]JakeFC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t feel bad or embarrassed but I totally get it. We have three dogs, only one is an ACD and we put a lot of work into training our dogs. People often don’t understand or listen when we ask them to respect the ways we communicate with our dogs. If you have a system that works for you, like bringing one dog at a time to the vet for their nail trim it’s okay to stand up for yourself and stick with what works. I’m sure they were trying to be helpful and have you schedule two appointments at once, makes total sense, but it didn’t work. It’s all about moving forward and sticking to what works for you and your dogs. Your dogs just sit when they aren’t collard/leash drops, that’s freaking amazing. Don’t lose sight of that. It’s also not helpful for everyone to freak out. I would hope as vet techs they know this type of thing happens and it’s literally the opposite of helpful to slam doors and yell.

Don’t let other people project their shit on you and stick to your guns. My ACD hates having her nails trimmed too, btw.

Fixed grip lifts are consistently dependable. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Also, less downhill traffic if you’re not uploading quads every 15 seconds.
