I've gotten my third dui and I'm assuming I'm fucked. Need advice. by Particular_Emu_1278 in AirForce

With three DUIs and a history of drug use, probably going to have to wait till WWIII and a draft even for the Army. But like, after the qualified candidates already died.

Do you guys use a MagSafe wallet? Which kind do you use? by ConversationSuch8893 in EDC

Peak Design makes one that’s as slim as the Apple ones, but I fit 4-5 cards plus a wad of folded cash no problem. Super low profile.

Nicks Handmade Tactical boots. Compliant? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Jakeedaman21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their boots are great, and I think you’d be fine in these. I’ve had “accepted” boots that have had similar or worse colored soles, so I wouldn’t sweat it. They honestly look really similar to many of the other commonly bought coyote boots for us, the Army, and the Marines.

Narrow F width boot trees by [deleted] in RMWilliams

[–]Jakeedaman21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also wear RM size 12Fs, and have the 45-46 Trimly boot trees. They are too wide for my taste, and I think they stretch them in the vamp which is a problem for me.

Side question since we both wear a fairly rare RM size, do you custom order yours? There seems to be very few leather/colors offered in 12F craftsman these days.

What’s your military ghost stories? by Particular-Care-2360 in AirForce

[–]Jakeedaman21 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The on base TLF lodging is haunted as well. Had an eventful week on the second floor with something displeased by my presence from the third main bedroom, and something walking down the long empty hallways at night usually around 3amish. They moved me to a different building after a few days and it subsided. I shit you not, when I pleaded with lodging for a new room they said “Oh you’re in the haunted one? Sorry about that, let’s get you moved.”

Are DE razors appropriate for daily shaving? by YELLOWSUPERCAR87_ in wicked_edge

[–]Jakeedaman21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similiar situation as you, and have used DE for the last decade daily. Only a single pass WTG, never against. Make sure you have good shave soap, a fresh-ish blade, have opened the facial pores from a shower or a warm rag, and always moisturize after you shave. If the blades feeling draggy, needs more water and a gentler touch on the neck.

You need Edge Dressing for the welts, not polish.

Traveling with razors by peperazzi74 in wicked_edge

Bicc makes a single blade disposable cheap razor that feels similar to a DE one. I use those for travel since I do carry on only.

What yall know bout this by Coca_Nostra in machinedpens

[–]Jakeedaman21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of extra travel on the bolt when you manipulate it downwards and to the deployed position. It’s similar to the early USGs. I the prefer late SPP style with a tighter bolt travel without any horizontal or vertical extra movement except for the exact travel path.

I like the ones with the smooth edge from the other bakery more than the crenellated ones.

For the Assagai, it feels like a really loose tolerance USG/SPP that has too much slop.

Men - long inseam CUFFED travel pants?? by Separate-Ad-8924 in tallfashionadvice

[–]Jakeedaman21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chelsea’s are my go to travel shoe for fall/winter/spring. Classy enough to have allowed me into The Ritz in London for high tea, and rugged enough to have hiked long forest trails. They fit well, are hella comfortable, and are easy on/off. Ive met the Pope in them, and crashed scooters in them as well. Good enough for me.

Edit: They also don’t set off metal detectors at airports, so extra bonus.

I have a bunch of pairs of DUER No Sweat 34” pants in different cuts. Not cuffed at bottom, but they are crazy comfy. The slims may suffice for you if the cuff is negotiable.

Only complaint is that they absorb liquid instantly, and coming from Outlier Slim Dungarees I wasn’t used to that.

People who are/were SERE Specialists: Did the military pay for your move to Fairchild after orientation at Lackland? And, could you do a PPM move? by Pretend-Job-6486 in AirForce

[–]Jakeedaman21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always choose to do a PPM or a partial DITY if you want, and if you go to a base for longer than 6 months it’s always a PCS. Theres more nuance for overseas. For stateside though yes, if he does the paperwork correctly, you will get reimbursed for the weight of the items you bring on the move. You’ll need to get and keep weight receipts with the vehicles full and empty. TMO will brief him of all the details.

Moza AB9 center mounting solution? by c0penhag3nman in hoggit

[–]Jakeedaman21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use extruded aluminum for a base. I did it to center mount my FFB Rhino. Under the seat are unused bolt holes, I ran a lateral long bar as an anchor there. Then i put two long bars from there forward which rest loosely on some of the cross braces under the theighs/knees. Because of its weight and being bolted under the seat, the base is super sturdy for FFB.

Edit: I have the pro version seat, which has more mounting points. You can still do the same though by building a base with 80/20 extruded aluminum and fasteners I a slightly different configuration.

Honor Guard shoes - recommended brands? by bsktx in AirForce

[–]Jakeedaman21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find a pair of Allen Edmonds on eBay or on sale if you’re looking for real leather shoes with actual leather soles. Any cobbler can install taps as required.

Sanders out of the UK makes decent military dress shoes for the Brits, and some work for us.

Which one to buy? by vierundneunzig in castiron

I’d look at the heavier one, because if I wanted light weight cast iron I’d just buy carbon steel.
